El Paso; Fall of another great SC city?

I was in El Paso a few weeks ago. Boy has it changed in a few years. Might have something to do with Covid but also that Texas 21 over for stripper law really hurt this city big time from the looks of it. Just to note in the last 5 years the area lost about as many clubs as there are left today: Zebra, Lamplighter, Kokai, Foxy, Cabaret Club and Tequila Sunrise/Xcape all those gone. I hit three to check out what was going on.

Bucks Cabaret: this was where Tequila Sunrise then Xcape used to be now it became a Buck's. New nice, high flying but no extras to be had at all. At least this place had a pulse which would make it the only one in the city.

Dreams: More like nightmares. This used to be the spot everybody would go to. The hands down No.1 most popular club. I was there on a Friday night. Dead. Used to be packed to the gills. It was a club you would see a lot of teenage, baby strippers dancing in, so that 21 and over law Texas put in place really must've killed this club. $25 to get in and I really felt ripped off that I paid that for what I came into. Sad.

Red Parrot: This one kills me because it used to be my regular club and I used to say it is hands down one of the best clubs in America, legendary among Truck Drivers, now I may have to tweak it to was. Not only was there no energy on a Friday night but in VIP the fucking staff member takes a lap up there and walk by the couches. Used to be a complete out in the open free for all. They used to let everything play. Now I don't what to say. Whatever else was going around town or elsewhere at least we still had the Dirty Bird, now it's the Clean Bird and interesting enough looks like it doesn't do the same business it used to.

I didn't hit the other clubs left that are jokes. Maybe there good stuff ITC at Montana Hideaway but the talent there, I don't think you'd even want to. Jaguars is the late night party douchebag spot, no extras there. El Paso used to be a great bang for your buck city, where your dollar goes really far. Now it doesn't look like it anymore. Maybe it turns it around but when you think about it, what city ever does turn it around? It's not a city with a lot of great career opportunities like NY or LA mostly just service sort of stuff so those girls graduating high school had a cool chance to make some quick big money, that stupid 21 law took that away and took all these fine looking, hot 18 year old strippers away from us. Why Texas, why? I used to miss all the crazy shit I could get away with here big time but now it doesn't exist anymore.

I'd only been to El Paso once, and was blown away by the amount of strip clubs there. Unfortunately, it was because of the death of an old friend, so there was not too much time or enthusiasm for lap dances. El Paso's strip club scene was noteworthy enough that Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias incorporated it into his stand-up routine.

The situation in El Paso over the last say 5 years really kicks the crap out of the theory that declining SC options are a result of political things. We have red and blue states and cities that are equally examples of sex worker and strip club persecution and closures.

Are strip clubs finally a truly dying art form? Are they only going to survive in party and major tourist areas? Super easy access to porn, womens right taking a MAJOR front seat (translating to strip clubs as exploitation), political dissent at an all time high (it’s always easy for both sides to go after strip clubs in their community to make themselves look good), camming and sugaring gives people a lot of alternatives to clubs.

Think about it, 15 years ago every issue I mentioned above didn’t exist or really wasn’t on the radar with the exception of a local election here and there. You might say “15 years ago?” - realize 15 years comes a lot quicker than we all realize.

Strip clubs are dying because of cultural and economic shifts. Free online porn is a huge part. And sites like chatterbate. The clubs getting too expensive. Plus the number of amateur girls who will strip at parties or "don't fuck for free". With the under 21 crowd. Girls will give lap dances and strip for some weed and alcohol lulz. Stripping is more alive than ever but the club as a middle man is killing itself off with their price gouging.

It is clear that we need to move to Private Party / Membership Club venues.
