Gambling Debts

I’ve only gambled a bit in casinos. So how does a college professor get $44,000 in debt. ($257,000 today). Isn’t it the bookies fault (to a degree) to take bets without the cash
Obviously I don’t understand hardcore gambling

Oh yeah, Frenulum
I think there were many day traders (stock traders), who got caught up in a similar gambling cycle. It’s not healthy, and even the legal methods of margin buying and selling, can push some to get in too deep.
Though at all levels, there are always gay dudes willing to get their poop stabbed for stamps.
Gays are more likely to get raped. Good luck telling Bubba that you put out for Jamal for free, but he needs to give you a book of stamps.
I've heard of guys having wedding ceremonies to their long-term "girlfriends" in prison. Complete with ad hoc dresses and groomsmen and ministers.
Prison sexual its is interesting. But very abusive. And diseases have to be rampant coz i doubt prison anal is hygienic. It could all be avoided if they just allowed conjugal visits.

Example: my friend had a customer who was this rich kid dick with a trust fund getting $11k a month. I was friends with his parents (good people) but the kid was a complete douche. When I say kid he was around 30 when all of this was going down. Dude decided he wanted to start gambling, bet $1k a game and in two weeks he was $40k in the hole. Told my friend basically to fuck off when my friend finally cut him off. My friend lays off to someone else so he was on the hook. He negotiated it down to the person he lays off to for 15k but still that’s a big hit. Over the next decade this rich kid has paid about 10k of it. His life fell apart, his wife left him and his parents cut him off. The gambling debt was the least of his problems.
There are 365 days in a year and I bet probably at least 300 of them every year for the past decade. I usually bet 25 a game do a lot of 3 to 5 leg parlays too. I’ve focused more on money line bets than spreads and have done way better. I don’t bet a lot of under/over totals either. Least I ever bet on a game is 5 most I ever bet is 500, but 10-50 bets are my usual. I hit a 10 dollar 2 team parlay once for $800. I’ve hit several 4-5 teams parlays for $1000+ before. Most I’ve ever been down in 1 year is $2,000, oddly most I’ve ever been up in a year is $4,000. I have a chance to break that this summer for the first time but I’ll probably fuck it all up. My betting years go from august to august (start of college football season, the sport I bet on the most). I bet on the most: college football / college basketball / NFL / NHL / MLB / NBA. I do the best on MLB I do the worst on NBA and college bball. I did well in college football this year by meeting a lot on the MAC, they always had these crazy point spreads all season and teams rarely covered the spread. Also you take 5 MAC games, 4 of them are going over. At least that was the case this past season.
Sorry got off track. Every bookie I know has people that owe his/her money. You add up all the people that is my friend and I bet it’s over $100k and he’s small time, has like 15 regular customers a year, but he had a few high rollers that bet a lot and actually pay when they lose. My friend lays off so as long as people pay he doesn’t give a fuck he gets a percentage win or lose. I figured it out one day and with the money he makes off me every month I’m probably paying his BMW payment each month. I can’t complain, where else can I place a bet when I’m down a grand and not have to put any money up? Plus I get better odds than the online books.
