Now that the first Starbucks is going union, is the coffee going to be even better?. How many of you coffee drinkers are as excited about the future of Starbucks as I am about beans?

A crappy cup of coffee is still crappy whether it was made by union workers or non union workers

I have not set foot in Starbucks in over 10 years. Don’t see this changing my mind. I like plain coffee and never figured out to order that.

I don’t care. Their coffee isn’t good. They have so many non coffee beverages - it’s odd they are still considered a coffee shop.
It will likely please their left wing patrons, who are in love with socialism and workers uniting. Although they will likely need to sit in their Teslas longer in the drive through line - as the service will likely get even shittier.

I am absolutely enjoying watching the progressive left sticking it to the corporate left —good for them! ☕️

If Jimmy Hoffa unionized Starbucks wprkers, they'd hold a sit-down strike and throw hot coffee on any scabs who tried to take their jobs. The irony of hot coffee giving scabs scabs would bring a wry smile to Jimmy's face.
I'd rather see a minimum wage that's a living wage, and a DoL with enough good people, looking into complaints.

Actually, according to the article I read only ONE Starbucks location's employees had voted to unionize and several others had voted not to.
I don't know about this particular location's situation. It may be that ownership here was particularly unfriendly to employees. On the other had, it may have been a couple of radical leftist organizers.
Point is, this is hardly widespread.

Starbucks has always been totally anti-union. It isn't just anti-union, it talks to its people like they are total idiots.
I had happened to have been in a Safeway store when a Starbucks rep was holding a training session for future associates. I listened a bit and it was completely denigrating.
The leader saw that I was listening and so she spoke to me. I really took her down. Then over the phone I made a complaint to the Starbuck's headquarters. Then I called the union for the Safeway workers.
I think I was able to keep Starbucks out for a couple of years.
I don't patronize Starbucks, never have. Viet Coffee is much more fun.

I wonder if the unionized employees wilk also wanna become activists and start making woke-demands like "hey we're not gonna charge black people"

While blond roast is ok coffee, when they stopped acknowledging xmas, I stopped acknowledging starbucks. My cousin loves them so he gets to drive to golf alone while the 3 of us who home brew coffee ride together. I do not allow starbucks in my home or car. Same with Ben, Adolph and Jerrys shitty ice cream.

I’ve only been to Starbucks once. Had to meet someone there for a meeting. The mint iced tea was pretty good but don’t some of those drinks have more calories than a Big Mac ?

I'm interested to see if Starbucks quietly doesn't support the union store and eventually closes it. At the least I could see less investment in improvement and maintenance

I knew that the safeway union would not want the starbucks. And the starbucks trainer was really insulting to their own people, people who just came out there because they were desperate for a job. So I gave ammo to the safeway union.
:) :) :)
It worked for a few years.

I stopped and listed to the pitch because their were so many people, and because I found the trainer to be completely inappropriate.
Then she called out to me and asked why I was listening. So I took that as the opportunity to really dress her down in front of her group.
I knew about the only way I could influence this is to make an incident and get a lot of people talking about it.
No know, I don't particularly like Safeway either. They were the main opponent of Cezar Chavez and the United Farm Workers.
But I thought, who would not want starbucks in there? I figures it was the union for the safeway workers. So I did make a complaint to starbucks in Seattle, so that they would talk about it and so that this trainer would have to answer for it. Then I got the union on the phone and gave a detailed account of everything this trainer was saying.
She was pretty much beating up on a near captive and desperate audience, and I felt this about them. This is why all my words were addressed only to the trainer.

I like unions. We are 99.99% closer in status to the guy flipping our burgers than we are to any billionaires and most CEOs. That still doesn’t change the taste of their shitty coffee tho

Just a thought... every time you fly someplace, you're working with dozens of Unions. Pilots, ATC, Flight Attendants, etc. Unions do serve a function. Many employers will pay the absolute minimum possible, not provide a safe working environment, over work employees, and not provide benefits. So, do Unions always do a good job of protecting employees without overstep? No. Do Unions protect workers? Yes.

I've never been to a Starbucks. I'm not big coffee drinker. What I find odd is they have a mini Starbucks inside the Kroger Market where I normally do my grocery shopping. I rarely see anybody sitting there. It seems to me that the space could be better used for stocking groceries. Meanwhile there is a full sized Starbucks directed across the street.

We got a mini Starbucks in the grocery store near me. There is always a line there. Oddly enough it’s always about 90% women too

Conversely, the coffee line at circle k every morning is 90% men
