OT: Monday Night Football

The Manning brothers broadcast on ESPN2 is the greatest innovation in sports broadcasting since the advent of the remote control. These dudes are awesome.

For shits and giggles, let's see what kinds of losing arguments you have against it.

I've heard of the Mannings' broadcast but haven't listened to it - I'm not watching the game-tonight but have watched some prev Mo-night games and feel the current/regular Mo night announcers are pretty-dull and uninteresting.

I don't need to hear a play-by-play (though Gus Johnson is a treasure), but I love hearing their perspective.

And it's pretty funny hearing Marshawn drop an F bomb on live TV, Eli flipping double birds....these dudes are funny as hell.

i didn't know they were on tonight. they stopped showing them weeks ago. coolest thing espn has done in maybe over 20 years was to have these two on.

Hell yes!

They had a few weeks off, came back last week, and Peyton had to apologize for Marshawn Lynch saying "what the fuck?!?"

I guess they're off next week, and back for week 10.

A couple weeks ago they had Tom Brady on as a guest and to hear that trio talking about reading and dissecting a defense was pure gold.

The Mannings are boring, uninteresting people. Tried watching MNF with them on it twice and now, instead of watching I took my wife out to dinner last night. Football exists for betting purposes only and fantasy. I had the fucking Jets on the money line Sunday. Yeah, not a guess, two real reasons. The pick Sunday is Cincinnati to cover. I love football.....

Just as I suspected. Agreeable opinions and losing arguments. And yeah, when they had Brady on and they all sat there ball busting and dissecting plays, that was fantastic.

Why do you think disagreeing is a losing argument, I have no problem with the Manning’s actually I was a fan of Eli’s but I think if you want to watch a football game maybe you could shut up occasionally

They're all losing arguments because I'm always right. And the original post, "for shits and giggles, let's see what losing arguments you have against it."

Some broadcast crews are terrible. Some are good. These guys are fun to listen to, and they don't adversely affect my ability to watch a game. But their commentary and HOF QB perspective enhances the watch.

Sure dude you're always right except when you disagree with me because I am omnipotent

Argument is simple sometimes its a great option to shut up and watch the game, can't tell you how often I have shut the sound on not just football but most sports, cause the announcer like an annoying strip club DJ won't shut the fuck up, and yes the Manning's are good for a few shits and giggles and quite knowledgeable, but just like watching a ballgame with a couple of buddies two of whom were pro ballers one is a HOFer we enjoy the game and know when to shut up and watch the play go down.

This isn't a normal broadcast with play-by-play and a former player as commentator. The whole reason ESPN got them to do this is because there are people who specifically want to hear them opine about what's happening. The game is secondary.

You made my point the game is secondary if that’s your enjoyment have at it, for us Giant football is a religion 😇

the broadcast is almost like having the manning bros in your living room.

if the manning bros accepted my offer to be guests in my house to hang out and watch mnf i would be very disappointed if they didn't yap away. reading defenses, sharing amusing stories about other players they with or against. the game itself of course would be secondary. it's strictly there to be in the background to inspire what the mannings will say.

and one of them is an ex-giant. ya know, the one that defeated brady and hoody twice?

I do miss Al, Frank, and Dan. That's the MNF crew I grew up with.

But the announcer I miss most? Gary freaking Thorne. I was so stoked when ESPN got hockey back this season, thinking they would bring him back for sure. But the bastards did not.

It's gotta be better than Joe Fuck and Troy Acheman.

Last game I watched had Bryant Gumbel, jeeze that dude was a snoozer. Which would have been OK if not for the jackass with him who kept making fun of him.
