who decides whats essential?

Sunday, November 15, 2020 7:25 PM
i just wanna know what makes officials think they have the authority to decide what is essential. It may not be essential to the person making the decision but when a club or brothel are shut down its essential to the girls that work there. I've been unessential since april and im pretty tired of it. Open up the clubs and brothels please. Some say this is the end of brothels in nevada and i didnt think it was gonna be but it just might....

So sorry to hear you are still shut down PD83. I really think the only industries that some politicians believe are essential are the ones that contribute enough to their reelection campaigns. Unfortunately, with the election season over and Covid numbers going up at the same time I fear many more shutdowns are coming very soon. I believe Oregon, Michigan, New Mexico and probably others started locking down again recently. Ohio bars, restaurants and gyms were told last Wednesday to expect to close this coming Thursday if the numbers did not get better and so far each of the last 4 days have seen numbers higher than we had ever had before the warning.

In the first lockdown in Georgia, the first phase of re-opening was specific that it included such essential services as nail salons, gyms, movie theaters and bowling alleys.

As PD says, there’re all essential to the people who rely on them for a living. It’s insane to shut down most of the economy to protect the fraction of a percent of the population that is truly at risk from COVID. Those people should quarantine and protect themselves and the rest of us should be able to live our lives. Luckily for those of us who live in Georgia and a few other states, thats pretty much the way it’s been since June.

Politicians are dumb shits. The only reason I anyone is considered essential or nonessential is because the public allows them to. Thus, the public are dumber shits.

None of what is going on has anything to do with people under 45. This is merely the Government getting young people used to following nonsensical orders like silent sheep. Notice any Government workers getting laid off? Orwell knew them to be party members and the rest of you are just proles.

If youre willing to work in a brothel during a pandemic you have problems. You qualify for PUA if youre really a legal hoe like you claim.

How could strip clubs not be essential? Sheesh. Well for those of you in states not as enlightened as Florida, I will definitely put a dollar in her g-string for you. 😉

PD makes a good point, as a job is essential for those who need money. However, in the midst of a pandemic, with infection rates rising, the state governments decide what businesses provide essential services and products to the public. It is not an easy choice. A business must provide essential products or services that the public needs. This might be the only site where a brothel could rise to the level of an essential business. A place like a WalMart that sells many essential products will be much higher on the list than a brothel. Based on what is happening in this country, I would recommend you avoid jobs in tourism, whoring, and other high customer contact businesses for at least the next 6 months. And, to answer your next question - I doubt brothel whores will be at the top of the list to receive the vaccine once it’s ready to distribute.

You don't have to call them whores

My reference to whores is not negative- it’s simply a job.

I believe they choose whether or not it's needed for survival. Being serious, clubs aren't essential because they aren't needed for basic human survival. But yes, my club is shut down, too. It sucks, but we'll get through. We did it before and we'll do it again.

It's an unlawful power grab. This government overreach in plain sight, and people affected need to fight back (lawfully). Biden isn't going to help you, he wants to make it nationwide. Fortunately, free states like Florida can tell him to shove it. For people like 25iq and the other Commies in their east coast strongholds, their governments will gladly tell them how to live their lives.

Governors are the ones with power to enact mitigation efforts for public health emergencies. Not the president. The president however should be givibg states the logistic support to fight the pandemic. If you think fighting the pandemic is tyranny while claiming systemic inequalities are not real you are a sick fuck and a few steps lower on the evolutionary ladder

“Essential” is a misnomer. A well tailored order will allow actual essential businesses to open (healthcare, fire, police, auto repair, gas stations, grocery) but also allow businesses that can operate without undue danger of transmission of the virus (landscaping, golf courses, parks, restaurants at reduced capacity or outdoor dining, etc). There’s obviously multiple opinions of what is an undue danger and what is essential. Some of the governors and local leaders are doing a good job of it. Some are not. Sucks for all but hopefully we’re closer to the end of this than the beginning and the vaccines prove safe and effective.

2ICEE, Fighting off a pandemic which is an international problem at the state level is main reason why this still an issue. Every governor has access to different resources and has different ideas on how to handle the situation. The problem is containment, in the UNITED states we can freely move in between states. So if New York shuts down you could drive your car down to Florida and party it up spreading the virus all over the place.

The decision over who is classified essentially when it’s stripped down to the essence of the decision maker, will always be the groups that contribute the most money to their political campaigns
