Stupid Alabama Rules

I was in Huntsville for business recently. The clubs are open, but operating under ridiculous rules. They have to stop selling alcohol at 11:00 p.m. and all alcoholic drinks must be consumed by 11:30. They can stay open after that, but no more alcohol. I stopped by Fantasia on Thursday and found out that was their first day reopening after a 30 day shutdown. Apparently some ABC inspectors came in at 11:40 and found a half full cup of beer on a table and suspended the club’s alcohol license. The owner said she has to go to a hearing soon to contest the suspension. In the meantime, they are a no alcohol club. Who knew that coronavirus wakes up at 11:00 p.m. and spreads through alcohol?

It's Alabama. Just be glad that town has any decent clubs at all.

I think the Christian right us impacting a lot of states. The crusade against bars is like a modern day prohibition.

So how was the OTC threesome ? Any stories ? If you can't drink, you might as well take some girls back to your hotel, right ?

Warrior: Great minds think alike. Unfortunately my OTC inquiries didn’t pan out this trip.

As others have said, just be appreciative that they are open. If you lived in a blue state, there would most likely be no decent clubs open and be forced to wear a mask in public.

This isn't the only city or state that has lowered the time for for last call since reopening from the virus shutdown. I believe that the reasoning behind it is to keep people for getting too drunk and forgetting about the guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus.

People do a lot of things after drinking too much that they won't do sober. Shooting each other is another good example.

The virus must sleep in down south, here in Ohio last call is 10pm due to Covid. On the bright side, it is apparently only spreadable through alcohol if you buy it at the bar because the governor hasn't limited the times for BYOB establishments and some of them are open until 4am.

I think the ban on alcohol later in the night is to avoid larger crowds from congregating after 10pm since party-time is usually after this time when the bigger #s of partiers start their night.

In Nashville it’s byob and clubs still close at 10:30 and the dances suck. I still go to Huntsville clubs from time to time. The liquor stores stay open until 12 grab a bottle head out to the car every now and then take a shot and go back in and enjoy the show minor annoyance that could be worse imho.
