I get bi-weekly check ups at City MD so I know I'm clean and I want to stay that way. Would it be inapproriate to ask girls I'm intending to bed for a night to do the same. Especially considering it's free and it only takes a few days for the results to come in. Because even a kiss on the cheek from the wrong one can cause a panic!

Well it's never a bad idea. I used to go and get tested once a month before that doc told me there was no reason to come in more than once every 3 months unless I was showing any concerning symptoms. Of course, he didn't know that I'm a SWer, so naturally I was just being punctual on staying on my toes about my health.
But if it's free, then I don't see any harm in asking so as long you don't make it sound like you're 300% suspicious they got something (especially if you or she is open to bareback activities). Biweekly may sound like a bit of effort if she doesn't meet up with a lot of people, but you don't know that for sure, do you?
I can't remember the last time a partner asked me to get tested or show recent results before agreeing to unprotected sex. This post is kinda refreshing.

Yeah, usually the only people that get tested that often are porn actors or brothel workers.
Bi-weekly is the MAX time for porn stars. Some producers/actors actually ask for tests less than 7 days old. The labs used by the industry produce results next day, and if the client approves, the results are posted within a private network that other industry members can access using a QR code provided by the performer.
I get tested every 4-6 weeks, even when I'm not active. I want to have a "fresh" test ready if I get an opportunity. I always ask my new partner to show me a recent test as well.
