What Types of Clubs Do You Prefer?

harrydave
New Jersey
I've got some preferences in types of clubs, but I'm wondering what you guys prefer. Here's my proposed club types"

1) Gentlemans Club - tuxedoed doormen, greco/roman statuary, plenty of silicone, and steep VIP prices to keep out the riff-raff.
2) Strip Club - a mix of types and ages, sports on the TVs, lap dances at your seat, maybe VIP
3) Tittie Bar - emphasis on drinking, local girls in bikinis, more tipping than lapping
4) Hellhole - street girls indoors, drinking as a way to stall, action sitting or standing, no fucking VIP shit

Any other major types?

    My preference is:

    1) Strip Club - casual attire; TVs; mix of dancers; LD area/VIP/champaigne room.
    2) Tittie Bar - topless/binkin; drinking/chatting; no high pressure; seperate LD area away from main club.
    3) Hellhole - usually topless club with a variety of extras available; usually high pressure expected; keep visual of drugs & cons.
    4) Gentlemans Club - last, only because I feel uneasy (maybe too broke); really great looking (10) dancers could intimidate me easily; don't care for silicone, like all natural, the way God made them.

    NEW TYPE -
    5) Bordello with a Strip Club Front - a bar; a stage (with no dancers on); riff raff type customers; 2 to 3 dancers (5s) sitting at bar waiting for the bait & tackle; a couple of semi-private cubicles with two chairs in them; OH MY GOD! I JUST DESCRIBED DIVA'S IN KOKOMO!!!

My vote - Strip Club! Wait, this IS TUSCL, not TUGCL, TUTBL, or TUHHL!

I'm not really sure what the difference is between a "tittie bar" and a "hellhole". A "hellhole" just seems like a really bad "tittie bar" to me. But I personally prefer to avoid classifying anything, mostly because few clubs perfectly fit into one or the other category, although I find I like tittie bars the best and gentlemen's clubs the least.

    Clubber, very funny!

Bones, agree with the Bordello Front classification (although I was thinking of those places as a variation on the hellhole). The Mexican border town clubs mostly fit that bill, as do some of the clubs south of Montreal in Quebec, as do a few clubs here and there in the US. Harry O's in CT, Vics Place in NJ, Henry VIII South in MI, to name a few.

Just reminded me I should start a thread on Worst Home Handyman Job in a Club.

My preferences are for strip clubs first (moderation in all things?), hellholes and tittie bars next, and gentlemans clubs last. As far as I'm concerned, gentlemans clubs are for wimps and fools (as defined by the famous quotation "A fool and his money are soom parted"). Oops, guess that make me a fool in many clubs.

How about the Jack Shack, or modeling studio, where you go and basically get a live show while being encouraged to perform "self service"...

Sorry to cop out, but it really doesn't make any difference to me. What matters to me is hot women I can get intimate with. I don't find that in enough clubs to have the luxury of being choosy about how the bouncers are dressed or whether the restroom is toxic.

I prefer the small, friendly, inexpensive neighborhood bar type places. Like Brad's.

Fondl: Brad's? Are you referring to Brad's Brass Flamingo?

Interesting question....but I don't think all clubs can neatly be pigeon-holed into the discreet categories you describe. The first three clubs that come to mind (because I visit them semi-regularly) would have trouble fitting into any of those categories if all the criteria must be met. Good question, but the grey area between club types and the uniqueness of each club is what TUSCL is all about and I think it's what makes us all enthusiasts.

DougS, yes I was. And I realize that Brad's isn't a typical neighborhood bar type place - it's bigger than most and a little fancier, but it has the friendly atmosphere of a neighborhood bar.

As I'm sure many of you remember, I once tried to categorize clubs and ended up with a lot more categories than the 4 listed above. For example, I remember listing "GC-wannabe" as a category - those clubs that pretend to be GCs but don't quite make it, and there are a lot of such places including many of the chain clubs. I also had "LD-factory" as a category, which I think is pretty self-explanatory. And I also listed "hybrid" as a category - those increasingly common clubs that are part neighborhood bar and part LD factory, which is were I'd put Brad's.

The best clubs have beautiful women willing to bend or break the rules, no dj's, full length songs, are open during the day, no tuxedo'd doorman, reasonably priced drinks, good music, no obnoxious decor (columns and day-glo carpeting), beautiful waitresses/bartendresses, friendly fun loving clientelle, no crazy ATM fees, maybe a few tvs to have some sports on to pass the time.

Sounds like a neighborhood bar or hybrid type place to me.

One of the difficulties in trying to categorize strip clubs is that there are so many regional quirks. For example, The Block clubs in Baltimore would have to be a category all by themselves, I don't know of any clubs anywhere else that are at all similar. The DC clubs are pretty unusual too. There are a lot of clubs that are unique, they just wouldn't fit in a category not matter how many categories you listed.

I said I don't, but if I *did* have the luxury of being choosy about the type of club, I probably would prefer a club like Brad's, too. That's the kind of place where I'd be most comfortable as a regular. In fact, my longtime regular club was very similar - same laid back atmosphere, a little smaller and funkier but with more girls (yay). I was going there about twice a week for a couple of years, and I doubt if I could ever keep that up at either a gentleman's club or a really scummy dive.

However, since the place has changed for the worse in recent years, I find myself driving an hour past it to a gentleman's club that has the girls and the dances I look for. A lot of other cities in southern Michigan have Brad's type clubs, too, but I never go because the dances are lame. I agree with David that pigeonholing doesn't describe most clubs very well. Many neighborhood clubs aren't at all friendly. Some gentleman's clubs have mostly natural girl-next-door strippers and a staff that doesn't interfere with your fun. At some hellholes, you'll see a lot of boob jobs. At others, you might see some very cute, young girls. I'm glad it's that way, because I like going to all kinds of clubs, not just sticking with one type. What they do have in common is hot strippers and hot dances.

Strip club when flying solo. Gentlemen's club when with friends.

To me a 'hellhole' is basically a 'hole-in-the-wall type club. Dark, dingy, dirty, but favors high mileage and extras.

DougS - I don't think Jack Shack or modeling studio would fit into a club classification. Except, Fox's Den in Cleveland where you can get LDs in their pitiful LD area and jacked-off in one of their dinner type booths after buying a dancer drinks for your "jacker"! :-)

Chandler is a lot like me, as long as I get erotic attention from a decent looking girl, any club will do.

Like FONDL, I favor local neighborhood bars where the dancers get to know me and my wishes.

Jimmyblong hit the 'nail on the head'. I just love to see how far my dancers will go in breaking the rules. Kind of like a test of morality. I've had my share of dancers that I honestly believe 'went beyond' the call of normal duty......... or maybe it was just stripper BS?

As far as BBF, I went one time and can't wait to get back. I like it! Especially the $50 VIP room!! :-) :-) ;-)

Yeah, let's get the jack shacks right off the map. In Phoenix we have One-on-One clubs that fit that category. They keep changing names, rarely get decent reviews in TUSCL, and the format is lame. There is not a hell of a difference between a naked woman standing 6 ft away and a big screen high def tv showing porno. Very impersonal. Clubs are for man-woman physical contact, and all the crazy mental shit that leads up to it and flows around it. And the thrill of slowly escalating the "violence" and breaking the rules. No jack shit.

I would not add Jack Shack or modeling studio to the list either - I've been once, and don't really care to go back. HOWEVER, since they are reviewed on TUSCL, I thought it made sense that there be a category for them mentioned.

I have to agree to several posters above... BBF IS one of the best clubs around, and I definitely would place BBF above almost every other club that I've been to (save Baby Dolls).

Fondl: I was just a bit surprised that you mentioned BBF, as I don't recall you saying anything about that club in the past, and didn't see it among the list of clubs that you've reviewed... and I thought you were located far from BBF.

DougS, I am far from Indy but I used to travel there on business once in awhile and have been to BBF half a dozen times. It's one of the best clubs I've ever been to. But it's been a long time. I reviewed it but too long ago.

If you ever get to the Philly area, Club Risque in Bristol is the closest thing to BBF that we have. It's not as good but then neither is anything else in this area.

    1. The old theatre, like the Market Street Cinema in San Francisco, now rare.

    2. The single-owner type, with chairs around the stage and good lighting.

I hate the so-called gentleman's club and the big corporate ones.

Funny how most of us here seem to dislike the gentlemen's clubs, even if we don't totally agree what that term means. Does that suggest that GCs are trying to appeal to a different group of customer than most of us here? I believe it does. The GC I'm most familiar seems to target two customer groups: upscale businessmen and bachelor parties (they do a HUGE business in bachelor parties.) I don't belong in either of those categories. Maybe that's why I don't much like the place.
