@ATACdawg yeah but transmission rate of HIV is already pretty low for heterosexual sex. Lots of prostitutes and pornstar have pretty low HIV rates for this reason. There are also steps you can take to prevent getting HIV with medication. I would reckon that a lot of HIV infections are either through improper condom use or just lack of condom use.

What percentage of those HIV cases were from IV drug users as opposed to sex workers? Then what percentage of those cases among sex workers were due to bareback or anal or both? Then what percentage of those cases were from street prostitutes as opposed to agency women/strippers? Fear of HIV prompted me to dip my toes into the water slowly, but when you're older and the clock is ticking, there comes a time to just say, "Fuck it. I'll be careful as usual, but I need to enjoy the pleasures of life while I still can."

The CDC quotes F->M transmissions rates at approximately 5 in 10,000 (per encounter) for unprotected sex and when you know for sure your partner is HIV+. In the case of sugaring with one partner -- where both have tested negative -- the risk is truly in the noise level an not worth worrying about.

I could grind through the numbers, but the chance of dying from Covid is orders of magnitude higher. TUSCL is full of people who are hysterical about HIV and cavalier about Covid.

Not sure where you got that number. It's either the health rate over several decades or the global death rate over one year. We're over 80,000 American deaths from COvid in a few months.

80000 still isn't a high number. 2800000 people die in america each year. We could have 100000 covid deaths per month and it would only increase our individual death probability by a half. I'm 33. I have like a 0.01% chance of dying this year. If that goes to 0.02% that isn't concerning. Maybe for a 90 year old they go from 15% to 30% but ....they are 90 .

Probably has to do w/ socioeconomics - minority communities seem to get afflicted at a higher rate w.r.t. many health conditions as well as other issues - it has to do more w/ the environment/circumstances rather than anything biological, AFAIK.

Per an article previously posted in another thread, porn actors/actresses are required to get tested every 2 weeks and that info is input into a database; that database is checked every time a new scene is shot and if the actor/actress did not test clean then he/she is not allowed to shoot - per that article there hadn't been a recorded transmission of HIV in porn since 2004 if I remember correctly - all the more reason for prostitution to be made legal so a similar strategy could be employed - it's not 100% foolproof but much closer to foolproof than what there is now.

Supposedly with today's meds those that are HIV+ have virus levels so low they are barely detectable if detectable at all, and this leads to much lower ability to transmit if it's transmittable at all - so this is a big help - of course there are the issues of those that don't know they are positive, or don't take their meds as they should, but it seems the available meds due put a big dent on transmission,
