No, they are independent contractors. They can get other Government benefits such as Medicaid insurance and Food Stamps.

^ Actual answer is it depends, ICs can set up a corporate structure that pays them wages from earnings deposited into corp, so that answer is wrong @Lido

Independent contractors are not eligible for unemployment or other employee benefits like workers comp. Dancers will be hurting.

Wouldn't it depend on whether the dancer was listed as an independent contractor or as a salaried employee?
