What is a hostess?

I can think of 2 definitions.

1. a female that sits with you and drinks with you for money. Saw a lot of that when I was stationed in Japan. I believe that their are some hostess clubs in the U.S.

2. a female employee of the club who's job it is to see to your ever wish. I have seen this mostly associated with Champagne rooms.

Some clubs have women, usually good looking ones in a tight dress, whose sole job is to hustle guys to get VIPs and will find dancers that are the guy’s “type.” More common in clubs that fancy themselves upscale.

Where? I know there are VIP hosts; I know the girls are supposed to come to your table when you get bottle service and drink your liquor; don't know of any female roles other than the ones that serve you drinks or lap dances.

At my regular club the bouncers are called floor hosts. They use to have a female host that was kind of the manager over the VIP area. So I assume her position would have been a hostess.

I’ve been to a club where hostess = dancer who didn’t do stage or lap dances. Just did VIP/CR. I thought that she wouldn’t get much business that way (kinda an all or nothing proposition) and there would be no test drive for a PL. But she apparently she is probably the busiest dancer at the club. Heard guys were lining up to see her at 1:30 when she didn’t even arrive until 4pm. Smh.

Some of the clubs I’ve been to a women, usually good looking and in revealing clothing takes you cover charge (sometimes, but sometimes it’s the bouncer in other places) but she offers to get ice for you if it BYOB, or if they serve alcohol or any time there’s a drink minimum she brings your drinks. Or gets you change (singles).... Some of the clubs I’ve been to the hostess will do LDs. Some no, she just serves drinks and that’s it.
