Meaning/connotation of "Go-Go"

Wednesday, April 3, 2019 4:50 PM
The recent discussion about the heavy dollar parade clubs in the northeast/mid-atlantic brings up an interesting point. To me and most of my real life friends & family who sc, the type of club that has a full bar completely surrounding the stage, very limited seating other than at the bar, the girls in bikinis and a heavy/entrenched dollar parade would be described as a go-go or go-go style. a more open format club or one without a bar and nudity would be considered a strip club. titty bar or booty club could describe either. Does anyone else make this kind of distinction or is this just another jersey thing? Or is it just me and some of the people i know? Basically "go-go" means theres a bar and dollar parade.

I always thought the “go-go” type bars were those that were so filthy and served such vile, rot-gut liquor that the patrons often ended up with cholera and/or dysentery, hence the name “go-go.”
