It seems like more and more clubs closing then opening. I’m hoping for maybe you’d see some talent consolidation. Clubs have closed by me, but I’m not sure the dancers all went just went to other clubs. It’s seems like less clubs same talent right now.
Cities have copied each other's zoning ordinances to make it nearly impossible to find a site for a new club to open.
A local mayor in NC was quite proud of this accomplishment. Clubs will slowly close over time as the owners sell to developers, or get shut down for violations. Sometimes owners simply die and the heirs do not know how to manage a club.
Remember the Atlanta Constitution article that mentioned that no new clubs have opened within the city limits since 1984?
This club filed for bankruptcy, so it is clear they were not doing financially well. The reviews were not that great and prices seemed a bit high considering the economy of New Haven. It was a no-brainer for the owner of the building last year: keep renting space to a struggling strip club or sell to a developer.
You also have alot of grandfather clauses with regards to zoning. Adult entertainment licenses issued years ago can no longer be transferred in some cities. If the owner of a strip club dies, the club closes. Such is the case with the two clubs in Augusta, Georgia.
It seems the Scores brand has been failing across the board. Scores Baltimore rebranded as the Penthouse late last year. Platinum 84 in Denver used to have a naming deal with Scores, but it's no longer mentioned.
CT has been losing affluent residents in droves over the last few years and all the clubs are suffering for it.
As far as the Scores brand, as most of you know, the "Scores" name is nothing more than a licensing gimmick. A club in Jacksonville recently ditched the brand too, as did Trophy in Greenville. The Scores name doesn't really mean anything to the newer generation of club hounds and I guess it just wasn't worth what these clubs were paying out to use it.
