Too often, "sex trafficking" is simply verbiage that is used to stop strippers and sex workers from earning a living. This story, however, is a case of real sex trafficking where violence was used to force a woman in to prostitution.

With the advents of a myriad of cheap electronic communication options and infinitely more resources available to victims, I think it's exactly the opposite. Sex trafficking is harder to do than ever before. The fact that so many escort sweeps result in far more women arrested than "saved" is a testament to that. It's not like the time period the Deuce was set in, when pimps could beat their girls without repercussions because the cops didn't care. These stories are outliers now because of exactly what happened - all the girl had to do was to reach out for help and these two are fucked for decades.
"... The two used physical force and intimidation to make her have sex dates with strangers and turn over the cash to them,” said Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown, who added that the conviction marks the first violent felony sex trafficking conviction in Queens since the state legislature increased the penalties in 2016 ..."
Jeez - with such an epidemic of trafficking this is the first case they can solve in almost 3 years

Haven't you heard of all the new legislation proposed and ebacted the past few years? Damn, how could you not know about FOSTA?
The only logical reason that politicians would focus on and push this agenda could be that it has had such an upswing and become a near epidemic.
