Is There Really a Huge Upsurge in Sex Trafficking Over Super Bowl Weekend?

Detroit strip clubs
"Meanwhile, the Super Bowl myth lives on, no matter how many times it is debunked. That’s not to say Super Bowl weekend trafficking doesn’t exist, or that it is not worth investigation. But the pressure on local police departments to keep an eye out for trafficking victims over Super Bowl weekend means they end up subjecting many nontrafficked adult sex workers to raids, arrests, and prosecution."

As usual the do gooders over speculate on sex trafficking. There is however statistical data available to show that more people call in sick the Monday after Super Bowl than normal Mondays.

    OTOH...

Maybe the increased LE presence around Atlanta strip clubs during Super Bowl week will prevent an NFL player from being involved in a 2AMer and save a couple of thugs from getting killed.

Sorry but a lot of this human trafficking sounds like BS.

a quote from Maryland's human trafficking director:
"When we think of human trafficking, most people imagine violent acts used to force victims into complying: threatening with harm or abduction. In reality, most human traffickers use psychological means to trap their victims, however"

I cant tell you how many super bowl parties I've been "invited" to. I could definitely see this being a thing. A bunch of guys have a legitimate excuse to get together and get wild without their wives/gfs. It's like a national bachelor party. It makes sense to me. And if even just 1 trafficked victim can be saved through the effort that is worth it. <3 I doubt they are that concerned about strip clubs and more focused on prostitution/house parties. But those are just my thoughts.

My comment got cut off because I used a heart emoji lol.

I finished by saying I doubt the police are that concerned with strip clubs and are more concerned about the house parties and prostitution. Just my thoughts though.

Super bowl hysteria is nothing new. And it’s why I dislike the word “trafficking” it’s a word abused by statists to grab more power.

@LinzeeDet: *You* deciding to accept an invitation such as the one you mentioned and getting paid to fuck everyone there isn’t “trafficking”.

Someone else taking you to that party and making you fuck them is.

And “trafficking” includes a whole lot more than sex work. It’s just another word for “slavery,” whatever the form, whether it be sex work, laundry, restaurant work, or anything else.

Sex trafficking is so hugely over-inflated that the virtue signaling hype around it is at levels of absurdity. It is always mixed into the broader human trafficking going on, and gives LE too much leverage to put their noses into the lives of consenting adults. The whole "if just 1 life is saved" is complete horseshit. That logic can be used on anything as an excuse to abuse everyone's rights at any moment.

And on topic, trafficking is once again the fig leaf for enhanced morality policing. It's amazing how few girls they "save" in these situations vs the much larger numbers who catch a solicitation charge that will then follow them forever.

People with an agenda will often make bombastic statements in order to justify/advance their agenda/POV - part of the misleading agenda is basically saying that any woman, or most women, in the sex profession, are trafficked and are being forced by someone else into that line of work - but the facts are usually not there and it's obvious whenever anyone that digs into the bombastic claims (i.e. the facts are usually not there as to the extent of the problem).

I don't even think they believe that themselves, IMO they are just anti sex-work either b/c of conservative moral-believes, or liberal view-points that think no woman should use her body to make $$$ - it seems to me they use the human-trafficking hysteria mostly as a means to shut down all sex work whether it involves human-trafficking or not.

^ I don't think it has anything to do with their own personal views. It's all about getting elected/re-elected and they pander to what most of society believes/feels.

I don't think there is any more sex trafficking, but whatever amount there is probably gets a little more concentrated around the Super Bowl venue.

The trafficking myth comes out of a belief that all men are evil while all women are virtuous. The only reason that women work in the sex industry, you see, is because men who were raised in a rape culture force them into that life.

In other words, while women are superior to men, they are also powerless victims. Additionally, while women are constitutionally entitled to choice, being a sex worker is not one of the choices allowed.

So much hypocrisy. Perfect for politicians.

It's religious conservatives on one side and man-hating feminists on the other
