I found the article interesting. A perfect storm. Decline in high paid blue collar jobs. No more business “meetings” conducted at Strip Clubs. Gentrification of neighborhoods. Legal environment viewing strippers as victims. Shift from theatrics to extras. Competition from the Internet.
Interesting. Rising real estate prices and homeowner groups and all, bad news.
Real estate prices have definitely destroyed the SF club scene. And in South Bay its the conservative home owner politics.
But remember, dancers are usually not straight about how much money they make. I don't think club owners are either. We really don't know how much money is spent in there.
They say that Mexicali is cheaper and more "up close and personal" than TJ.
Interesting article. The last time I visited the Cotton Club, I had two Quebecois dancers eating each other out on my lap. For one of the other clubs mentioned, Ralph's Place, I was the last TUSCLer to review it before it closed down in January 2018. It was dead when I visited last September and you could not touch dancers on the stage or during private dances. It is no surprise they closed.
While feminism is bad in the United States, I have gotten the feeling it is even more pronounced in socialist Canada during my visits. Another big thing working against strip club in Canada is the fact that prostitution is legal. For what you would pay for a string of lap dances, you could be fucking a similar quality specimen. Another pet peeve that I have had with Ontario clubs is the fact that almost all of the dancers seem to be recent immigrants, mostly from Eastern Europe. I am not attracted to Russian hustlers and Romanian/Bulgarian gypsies. If I go to a Canadian club, I want to see actual Canadian women.
Some of the same issues facing Canadian strip clubs are also affecting US strip clubs. TUSCL now has the number of US strip clubs below 2,100.
