No such thing as a universal 8+

One thing I have learned from this forum is that guys taste in women is WAY more varied than I ever expected. For decades I have been on a bunch of car enthusiast forums where guys occasionally post and discuss hot chicks. There is always a heated debate when some guy doesn't think some hot girl is all that attractive. There are even whole memes dedicated to making fun of neck-beards saying some girl has too pointy elbows:

However it seems the truth is actually more complex. And this isn't 100% an issue of neck-beards being too picky about women that are out of their league. It has amazed me to see some of you guys posting about being super attracted to instagram pics of some girl I wouldn't date in real life. And some of the girls I would melt over almost no one else seems to be nearly as interested in.

I guess what I am getting to is that there is no such thing as a universal 8, 9, or 10. A ten to one guy is a 6 to another. Perception of beauty is way more varied and I think that is a really good thing.

Before joining TUSCL, I thought everyone preferred my type of girl--a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader with blonde hair and large breasts. But I have learned differently. It is a good thing we have varied preferences. If we all liked the same stripper type, her price would go sky high.

I learned that by the time I was in Jr High School.

Most guys, and using that 1-10 scale, they are not really even interested in the girl. They just see her as something which will enhance their standing with their male friends.

True. There are generally well liked things though. Mostly whatever is traditionally viewed as a marker for fertility.

Though even then, some people have quirks. My boyfriend thinks I’d look especially good with a pixie cut but as a dancer there’s no way in hell I’d do that. (Though I’m definitely tempted to cut it one day. Long hair is a major pain in the butt)

With most guys, their taste in women has developed by sitting around the cafeteria table with their male friends, talking about them. Then it continues at places like the Sunnyvale Brass Rail, fueled by alcohol and male bonding. And then here on TUSCL, most of the guys are just proving that they are "Normal Men" and that they measure up to social expectations in what their views are.

So it is high influenced by advertising and media, and very conservative things like surfer and beach culture.

Their interest in the women is quite secondary.

I have never been like that, always liking the women for themselves, and taking a special interest in them when they dress to please. Appreciating the deliberateness more than just what they physically look like. And so it is obvious that I would be attracted to venues where the women are beyond the pale.

on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest... SJG rates a 14 on how much he annoys the fuck out of everyone on this board. I think we can all universally agree on that.

The way the scale itself is set up is also highly subjective. For example some guys make the 10 rating an ideal that no woman on real life will ever attain whereas a 10 in my book is one that is in the top 1% in all categories of all women that I have ever seen. Others may define a 10 with an even looser standard.

I don't really rate women unless playing this game. A woman is attractive to me or not and the level of her hotness often has less to do with her looks than her personality or attitude. Obviously I find women with bodies like NiceSpice, and Zoey101 initially attractive but to be a "10" requires more than looks. Brains, personality enter as there are very attractive women I wouldn't touch as I find their personality or lack there of off putting. The inability to carry a conversation is also problematic for me. Finally there are personal preferences that tilt me to one look in general. Short, brunettes with darker skin tones are my weakness. My wife was Italian and that, asian or hispanic are my preferred type but an attractive women who is blonde or AA is always attractive, I just lean more one way than another. We all have such tendencies imo.

@Galiziabob if I could see her boobs I could tell you if she's an 8 or higher. If she has tiny boobs, she's a 6.5 on my scale. However, if her boobs are C or bigger, that's a 9 in my book.
Her face is cute, her skin is a wonderful tan, and her ass looks banging. If she can complete the package with big boobs she's in the upper tier of the scale.

I think this turned into more of a discussion of the numerical system than what I was intending. To me the varied perception of beauty is what is really surprising.

Zoey101 >>> nicespice. What can I say, I'm a sucker for big boobs. But hell, if they made a poll I'm guessing nicespice would win. Just based on the types I always see most folks talk about liking on here.

DC9428 I'm curious, who would you prefer out of Zoey101 and nicespice? From what you said in your last post, you sound like you have my same preferences. Which is rare on this site.

I cap all fake breasted women at 7 myself no matter how hot the rest if her is.

And I can find the same flaws and not care on a white blond chick but then if I see the same flaws on a black or asian chick I'm not attracted.

I think the OP is confusing beauty with type, I made this point on another thread recently, not a lot of 9s + anyplace, but we all would agree that certain woman are absolutely drop dead gorgeous, whether or not they make your dick hard is a personal preference.

The 1-10 rating scale is fine - but there is universal level/number that can accurately be used. Men’s tastes in women are too varied for there to be a universal 8.

Men are said to be predictable - but our tastes in women can vary significantly.

It’s interesting that there seems to be quite a bit of variation of preferences on here, even after taking into account those who are picky when behind a keyboard.

But super models, Hollywood sex symbols, porn stars, SI swimsuit girls and the like all meet a certain universal set of criteria. So I’m not sure if there is a universal 8 or not.

Huntsman - I’ve heard there is some type of universal criteria that many of the women who are considered to be at the top of aesthetic beauty fit. I think the symmetry of the facial features is an important factor.

In my view - it’s difficult to evaluate a swimsuit model against a girl you see in person. If the swimsuit model and the other girl are in the same place - the difference should be very obvious. We see VS models next to other VS models - and then my mind evaluates one VS model against the other. That’s a very different evaluation than comparing a girl who was hot in high school against a VS model.

Lol, I remember there was this customer who was trying to pit me against this other Asian dancer (she has lots of tattoos and her name starts with "R") We ended up doing a lot of double dances together and had a fun half hour session in a cabana.

The other thing that makes it hard to agree is that, in person, her personality is quickly going to influence our opinion of her looks and we may not all have the same view of personality. I might not like a given stripper because I think she has a bad ‘tude but someone else thinks the same shtick is a sexy swagger. That’s going to influence not only whether we get a dance but will also kick in our rationalization process. I might say I didn’t get a dance from a stripper because I didn’t think she was all that hot when I was actually turned off by her approach.

I truly believe that there is no such thing as a 10. There's always some flaw. If we have to count attitude, quirks, and behavior, there may be no such thing as a 9! But 9 is as far as I'll give any female. And I can honestly say that I will flip a switch on a really hot dancer if she does stuff that turns me off, like being loud, for example. I've heard dancers where they were clear across the room and I could hear damn near every word coming out of their piehole in a club with loud music. I saw this one chick in a club that had a great body, but every time I looked in her direction, she was shoving food down her throat, mouth wide open and munching like a pig. It ruined the mystery and when she came up to ask me if I wanted a dance from her...nope!
