She says that she is always interested in people who live on the margins of society. I guess I am too.

So you post about Mexican womens rights, then in your next post you'll post links to photos of Tijuana street walkers and how much you want to go bust some loads in them.

You are retarded. A high functioning retard, but a retard none the less.

No Shailynn, you are the retard. In Mexico prostitution is not totally dishonorable. It is one of the ways that women claim their rights.

In the US, prostitution is usually associated with women who have so little social legitimacy that they are living destructive lives.

From all I can see, reading about Mexico, and from the local Latina's I have known, this is not really so in Mexico.

And then Laura Esquivel's "Like Water For Chocolate" expands upon the mythology of the independent women, who besides being a prostitute, is also part of the revolution.

I see this as still going on today, women who want reliable income, clean lives, and without having to stay in any abusive marriage to get it..

That's exactly what your ex-wife wanted as she filed for divorce with you.

In Mexico, prostitution is usually associated with sex slavery and human trafficking. Even when its legal prostitution, its not approved of. It became legal so that these women could get tested, help getting off drugs and to make it safer for them. But its definitely not socially accepted. No one is gona brag about being a fichera.

Mostly its just young women who want a decent income for themselves and their children, and without having to stay in an abusive marriage to get it. Some of them rotate between TJ and their home places, on the lunar calendar.

The bars have a problem with alcohol and tobacco, but the street is fresh air and bright day light. So they stand on their spots and lean against their walls with pride. The photographs make this most clear.

Mexico has a new President Elect, and a new ruling party:

democracynow.org

So MORENA and Lopez Orbrador are said to be leftists, and critics of neo-liberalism. We will see. Talk of them compromising with PAN, to me suggests that they could be neo-liberals. But I do not know, so we will see.

Laura Esquivel's novel "Like Water For Chocolate" is said to announce the beginnings of Mexican Feminism, and she has held office in Mexico City under MORENA / PRD.

So this is to the left of the long term established left party, PRI ( Party Revolution Institutional ). But they say that Lopez Obrador is not Hugo Chavez and that he does not speak in Leninisms. So I am anxious to learn more and to see how this goes. Neoliberalism is a huge problem in the United States.

Opening Mexico, a great book, starting from 1968 and the masacare before the Olympics, and following thru to PRI allowing a fair election and the victory of Vincente Fox.

And so now we have Lopex Obrador of MORENA, a party to the left of PRI.
