Penthouse would be a big domino to fall if it had what I'll only call a significant culture change. While yes, it sounds like a lot of that kind of business might just find its way to the metro area clubs outside city limits, you wonder if those areas will follow the city's lead at some point.
In short ... might Detroit be losing the only reason to go there?

Also, AFAIK, Players still has their beaded curtains. This is just an assuption. It has been a while since that club had been reviewed, and I have not been there since my visit last summer during 4th of July weekend.
Either way, given the news that Penthouse had to take the curtains down, it seems obvious that in the near future, no club within the Detroit city limits will have a private VIP. There will obviously be a decrease in extras happening at Detroit city clubs, but it will not go away completely as both dancers and customers will still engage in extras out in the open where others can see it happening.
The worst case scenario I see happening is the strip club scene in Detroit will be very much like it is in Toronto, ie all the clubs that are in the Detroit city limits will become stricly non-extras while all the clubs in the suburbs near the airport will continue to be rich with extras.
There was a time when I used to avoid travel to or through Detroit. But then I discovered the merits of the Detroit strip club scene (with help from TUSCL among other sources) and started going out of my way to schedule meetings and other activities that took me to Detroit. If many others follow my pattern, this effort will have some unintended economic consequences for Detroit (business bankruptcy, conference and convention attendance declines, less travel and less tax revenue). I'd like to think that our political leaders had considered these factors, or at least had the foresight to track the economic impact of these efforts to regulate the strip clubs--- I know better than to give our political (and moral) leaders that much credit.
One other unintended consequence is that it will drive some of the dancers to other, less safe venues to ply their trade (as in the streets, escort sites, etc.).
I laugh every time I see some city council member get up and spout off on tv about “cleaning things up” or acting all high and mighty. Meanwhile, they are all, in once form or another, on the take and getting kickbacks, bribes, “donations” to something they want money for.
Think those “donations” don’t come with some type of political “favor”? If you do, you are either naive or kidding yourself.
This type of shit happens from time to time in the Detroit city limits.
Interested to hear what Penthouse is like right now. Also interested in reports from Coliseum and the recently open club Truth - does Truth have curtains.
Coliseum's curtains are also still up.
I've heard Truth does not have curtains either. I follow the agent for there on Instagram and it appears to be similar to Legends in terms of stage rain and a party atmosphere.
Was there any crackdown when the Super Bowl was in Detroit? The media focused on that one "mobile strip club," but I'm wondering what it was like at the more monger-friendly clubs. They typically do more stings in the Super Bowl city around the big game. I wonder if it was business as usual, if there was more business, if customers stayed away because of fear of stings, etc.
There's a certain large college basketball tournament coming to Detroit this March, which makes me wonder if that plays in.
1) easy access to air travel
2) abundance of adult entertainment for visiting dignitaries and customers
Truth be told I haven't
Also, you're damn right I ordered the Code Red.
