TL;dr It's because that's the TOP 1%, most of the guys on here a pretty well-off to play this hobby, and it is partly tongue in cheek because all us PLs are RICH STUDS. And $350K make you a RICH STUD. ;-)

In my own travels, I've noticed that a lot of guys cheat and what Chris Rock said about, "a guy is only as faithful as his options are" is sadly very true. Without getting too much into it, I anecdotally noticed that the rate of guys IRL cheating*** seems to correlate with income but the rate literally exposes after a certain point: like at $120K/yr (in 2000) and at $150K/yr (in 2017), where cheating is like suddenly 85-90%, it's crazy. That seems to be the threshold where the guy starts to have the resources above family obligations to make it happen without lowering his standard of living to get it done. IME. YMMV.

*** Where cheating is: mistress, coworkers, escorts, strippers, GF on the side, etc for married guys and 'any sex worker' for unmarried guys.

It all has to deal with the numbers 3 and 5.

Founder makes 3.5 million a year

Doug and Ricky make 350,000 a year

LDK82 makes 35,000 a year

Juice makes 3,500 a year

LecherousMonk gets 350 a month allowance from his parents

Jackslash paid 35 for a blowjob last night at Bogarts

Lil Fishstix gets 3.50 a day for lunch money when school is in session

I don't make $350,000 a year and as a result I don't think I have strip clubbed more than 18 times since July 4.

Dominic, I'm sorry but many of us who make that type of income are too busy to spend it on another meeting with a whore.

Most of us are looking for convenient times, and fortunately that ends up being with the family. As soon as my kids are old enough I plan to devote more time to the hobby, although a bit more difficult to enjoy it as much as the infrequent times I do these days. Smh.

I'm not sure who started the $350K as the amount we rich studs make, but I think it was Dougster.

Somebody years ago used that number to refer to posters who seem to have unlimited funds. The number stuck.

I don't have a set allowance. My mother slips me my dad's money on the DL. It probably does come out to about $350 a month, though.

That was, approximately, my income in 2012 and 2013. Some people pretended to misunderstood this as me saying it was my salary. Some people I think don't know the difference. In any case, another thread started soon after that in which, no surprise to many who have a clue, we find it's not uncommon for business owners to make that much per year. I guess the people who think $100k (six figures!) is some big deal, and those who make even less (jestie214 about $25k/y as a janitor) freaked out about it all.

I make half of the 350k club in a year, but living way below my means and growth from my investments have me snowballing my wealth like a 350k/year guy! My goal is to maintain my lifestyle in 5 years and retire, and I'm not that old.

Avoiding high cost of living areas like the coasts will also keep you under your means.

Meat72. I did something similar. Retired at the age of 41 after a few very good financial years. Invested my assets in a stock index fund, lived simply but comfortably in Phoenix. Twenty years later, things are fine. The key for me is to keep my funds in stock and not try to time the market.

Yeah, if I remember correctly it was Dougster saying he made $350k/yr and that it was not hard to do and it became part of the TUSCL vernacular.

In the past 35 years I doubt I have seen more than 11 or 12 thousand financial statements in court. I doubt that any of you make what you claim.

Well, a weed-smoking strip-club addict from a top-140 law school may not attract the most affluent clients.

@Papi: I believe I said that it was not "super hard". IIRC, about 1-2% of taxpayers make that much which supports it not being super hard.

As for skihomo, Random has it right: probably some selection bias in people who would be dumb enough to choose a complete idiot and 13th rate lawyer such as himself.

$350k is the starting point.

Remember, it's the "350K and UP club."

And you have to know the password to get in.
(Hint: its "Boobies")
