I like founder's avatar being a simple silhouette. wallanon also has a similar one that's a nude woman on a pole.
The ladies get honorable mention for at least having the ovaries or the mammaries to post a cropped pic of themselves or their money makers. That's worth something.
It's nice to have an avatar, since the eye (At least mine is) is drawn to one's review in the review section. It tells me this guy might be a forum regular.
I like mine, but in order to get it, you need to be old enough to remember the Popeye cartoons. If its too small to read, the caption on the bottom says "It's Tuesday Motherfucker"

You could argue that TUSCL has no purpose whatsoever -- but that doesn't seem to stop you from coming on a regular basis.
My guess is that the brain processes visual info faster than text and avatars link the poster to the content slightly more efficiently.
@Clubber & @Giraffe have great avatars. @DidThisOnce's avatar is funny. @Smith's avatar reminds me of a 14-yr-old boy with a hormone imbalance taking his first junior-high course in graphic design.
People can use things like Google Sites to post large pictures and make themselves a nice home page. They seem to be pretty cool about nudity. Same for blogger.
There are several I like. I settled on a hottie with a gun just to tick off the anti gun guys and like in the movie "The Whole 9 Yards" 'there ain't nothin hotter than a nekkid woman with a gun'
My avatar is not naked but she is hot and she does have a gun!

Thanks. Not sure you were around when they could be "active" or not, but mine was really a clubber!

He knows what he knows, and he's bad as can.
