I think there's a subset of guys who, having heard her say that in an irritated & superior tone, want to "prove" they are above extras too, and stick with her. For any PL with their eyes on the prize, that gets us running, obviously...

In the no-extras clubs I go to, I once had luck with probing back a bit, "Yeah, if I were a stripper, I could NEVER give extras to just every guy who comes in off the street. I think context matters. Nothing exists in a vacuum. Even in subraman's example, the "I don't do extras or OTC" line could be inverted to "I don't do them with just anyone" which has value. Ditto for the often maligned "wanna dance" which on busy late Friday or Saturday night might ha some value.
