@StripFighter: You really should include sugar babies off sites like Seeking Arrangement in any discussion about sex workers. SA is gradually replacing other forms of sex work in the same same as Uber is replacing taxi drivers. SA cuts out the middle-man (pimps, strip-club management) and brings in a whole slew of workers who would otherwise not be into sex work. The top end of SA has the best sex workers -- mostly college girls.

Obviously there are many excepts and much overlap. However in terms of social standing:

(A) High-end of SA (they are sex workers whether they admit it or not)
(B) High-end escorts (who work independently)
(C) Stippers
(D) Low-end escorts who are pimped out
(D) AMP workers (also suspect there is considerable trafficing)

Everyone seems to agree that the bottom is low-end escorts and then AMPs.

At the top, I was tempted to put high-end escorts and then strippers, but in a number of litmus tests, it's clearly the opposite. Imagine confiding in your friends, or your sister (say) that your new girlfriend is a sex worker... there's no way a stripper won't be far more accepted than someone who fucks for money, high end or not. In addition, you can claim with some credibility (outside the PL crowd) that the stripper isn't fucking her customers, and that the stripper is just making it through a rough time. A high end escort is definitely fucking, and I think most people have an innate understanding that a high-end escort doesn't get high end without committing to escorting as a career (although they probably VASTLY under-estimate the size of commitment and dedication it takes to transition to a high end escort).

In short, your family and friends won't be happy you're dating a stripper, but they'll deal; they won't accept you dating an escort, period, most likely.

So, for normal people:

3. AMP

For me:

1. FBSM/bodyrub

3. any level of escort
4. AMP

At least they aren't like the real sleazoids who work on Wall Street.

I agree with Subraman. If you told a friend that your girlfriend was a stripper, it would be more acceptable than call girl or other euphemism for escort.

Maybe should've had pornstars too, but I think it depends on how we define social standing... I see it as either what you would be most proud of(or here most ashamed of) vs what takes the most ability and hence is most valued. The two aren't always the same.

Prefer strippers. That can get complicated, but other options start complicated.

I'd say strippers have the highest social standing. I'm picturing a 40 year old soccer mom and "I used to strip" plays better than high end escort or even sugar baby. It's the idea every stripper can pretend she's low mileage and get paid for her time and stage show.

AMPs are lowest simply because most are poorly educated undocumented immigrants.

Stripfighter also mentioned pornstar, in my experience pornstars are to be avoided. Prices are usually higher than a typical High End escorts, and they are not worth it. I have had a few amazing times with pornstars, but most often they have not been worth it. While you might not think so, pornstars are often the least skilled in sexual activities of any sex worker.

You guys who are picking high end escorts as having higher social standing than strippers... are you thinking from:

• A sex business client perspective: as in, high end escorts are paid the most, and are the most exclusive
• A general societal view: as in, if I had to tell my boss, my mother, and my best friend what my girlfriend does, I think it's easier to say she's an escort than she's a stripper

Because, from the personal point of view, I can't imagine my family or friends being very accepting of any escort, whereas they might not be thrilled, but definitely could accept a stripper. Or, in other words, a stripper is absolutely not as low on the social ladder as a high end escort. High end escorts are higher on the SEX INDUSTRY SOCIAL LADDER, but definitely not general society IMO.
