I was bored last night...should have went to a club. I was flipping thru the channels and came across the beginning of the movie "Picnic" (1955).
I've never watched it before. I was a fan of William Holden and saw it was directed by Joshua Logan. I loved his "Mister Roberts" so I thought I would watch.
The best part was Kim Novak. Of course, I've watched her many times in Hitchcock's "Vertigo", but damn she was hot in "Picnic"
I mean seriousky hot. She was just 22 at the time. I'd take her over almost any modern day stripper
Check her out sometime. Her best scene was early in the movie when she was holding her head out the window drying her hair. Holy fuck.

I don't believe you
Kim was hot.
I just watched "Babydoll" starring Caroll Baker. She was hot too
Picnic is a good movie!
" after which people must return to school or work and face up to the challenges in their lives. It is the story of the proverbial outsider who blows into town and subsequently manages to overturn complacency, shake convention, disrupt and rearrange lives and reset the fates of all those with whom he comes into contact. Remember that William Holden plays someone who is now a drifter, Hal Carter. And he inherited next to nothing. Whereas Cliff Robertson plays the son of the town's wealthy grain owner, Alan Benson . A very dramatic scene in the movie is when Novak's character rejects Alan Benson in favor of Hal Carter. It is a largely non-verbal scene. And I think this reveals much about what author William Inge is trying to communicate to us.
Note also that Cliff Robertson can come across other ways, as he played JFK in PT 109, and he had been selected for that role by the Kennedy himself.

Raquel Welch in One Million Years B.C is a must see
Her poster is legendary
I have "Mister Roberts" on DVD. Betsy Palmer was pretty hot in that movie.
Let's not forget Marilyn Monroe.
Anna Nicole Smith
I would fuck her in the boobs
Motor if you like William Holden and hot women check out "Breezy" with Kay Lenz that one is actually pretty good and has some very sexy (for early 70s anyway) scenes.
I agree with chess
See mo head I have never meet you in person and this alone discredit your whole story and your Review's.
Your not even a real Boy
LOL Juice
@twentyfive
Thanks for the tip. I remember Kay Lenz from Rich Man, Poor Man in the 70's. There must have been a pretty big age difference between Holden and Lenz.
I couldn't remrmber how Holden died.
He was still a relatively young guy when he died at age 63 in 1981. He was drunk and fell and hit his head at home. The body was not found for 4 days.
He was one of the biggest stars in the 50's. Yet when he died, no one discovered him for days. That's one of my fears when I get old.
Geez, sorry to turn this thread morbid
In Breezy she plays a hippy chick in the era of free love, and the age difference between them works, as he is a straight laced real estate broker, they meet by accident then they bond over a dog getting hit by a car, she is a free spirit who cant be pinned down sort of like these PLs who try to make strippers conform to their reality. The whole square peg in a round hole thing is really well done.
Raquel Welch was the center of many of my boyhood fantasies. That fantasy is long gone but she still looks good for her age, she turns 76 in Sept. and looks better than most women 20yrs younger than her.
I would still fuck her boobs
To Kim Novak (2 thumbs up!) I would add Natalie Wood and Maureen O'Sullivan.
Traci Lords in all those movies she did when she was 15 or 16.
And Grace Kelly.
Mostly legs and cleavage is what I remember looking for in the movies. It's a much different world today.
This movie had one great scene, door keeper for a clandestine brothel, showing maximum cleavage in a dress with a huge sheer area. letterboxd.com
Things were different back then, much less female nudity around. But also, living that horrid Beavis and Butthead kind of existence!
So seeing women deliberately showing their stuff was a big deal.

I'm going to admit a guilty pleasure of mine was "Desperately Seeking Susan" but it wasn't Madonna that had me hot. Rosanna Arquette did the housewife gone wild (good girl gone bad) perfectly.
Another guilty pleasure with hot younger babes: The Gen-X coming of age classic "The Breakfast Club". Molly Ringwald certainly was hot, and Ally Sheedy.... well the scene where Ringwald's character gives Sheedy's character a makeover in the girls' bathroom is a great modern update to the Cinderella genere.
Bo Derek & Ravel's Bolero in "10" is hard to beat.
