CBS announced that Stephen Colbert’s late night talk show is being cancelled. He’s billed as a “comedian”, and although I’ve only seen clips and bits and pieces of his show, he seems more like a hate monger spewing one sided political attacks than funny.
This follows the recent firings of Joy Reid, Katie Phang, and Alex Wagner at several others at MSNBC. The formerly high flying angry lesbian Rachel Madow had her nightly show relegated to once per week.
Several CNN hosts have been fired over the past year, including the notorious race baiter Don Lemon.
The View is managing to hang on but recently lost its number one ratings slot to a FOX daytime show.

Interesting take on Colbert. That's what I love about this discussion board, I get to see/hear things that are foreign to me.
And no, I'm not taking a cheap shot at your position.....I find it fascinating, not angering or frustrating that you see it that way.

I recall when the left wrung their hands that they couldn't find another Rush Limbaugh, now it's another Joe Rogan or similar.
Perhaps even the left is tired of hearing Trump Bad Trump Bad Trump Bad Trump Bad repeated a thousand times in unoriginal fashion?

^the left wing youtubers and podcasters have recently been cheering joe rogan… maybe for the past month. Originally because of Israel/iran, more recently because he was complaining about trump and the epstein files etc.

@Chunky - The left can be led like a dog on a leash by simply saying "Trump hates this!"
News of Pepsi replacing high fructose corn syrup with cane sugar has the left-wing media defending high fructose corn syrup! Can you fucking believe it?

Colbert was an enthusiastic cheerleader for Fauci (fucking creep) and the vaccine. He lost his subversive / culture critic card for me.

I hope Kimmel is next. Need to see him cry on camera once more.

The only people watching TV anymore are grumpy old men.

Who really knows the facts, according to industry sources CBS was losing 40 million dollars a year, and late nite shows industry wide are particularly unpopular, and hemorrhaging millions of dollars on all the networks, sure Trump is a thin skinned prick and hates being mocked, but you have to wonder if Colbert was earning 40 million a year do you believe they would cancel the show.

Let's blame Trump and MAHA. Late night TV is less important than a full night's sleep.

Gutfeld! is killing it. And it's on at 10 which means people with jobs can watch it and still go to work the next day. A show at 11:30 on weeknights, you either have to be retired or a non-working welfare recipient.

^ Ditto on Gutfeld! He has a staff of around 10 compared to the network late night crew that have around 200 each, and for what? Gutfeld! has has more viewers, according to rating, and is only on cable. The other group has cable plus over-the-air "old school" antennae broadcasts, and they have a small audience.
I think 4 things happened:
Profitability of the network guys is severely tanking, Colbert gets a reported $40M out of an annual budget of $100M, Kimmel ~$15M has annual budget around $100M, Fallon ~$16M with an annual cost around $75M, Seth Meyer's ~$5M and around $60M per year ; Gutfeld ~$7M with about an annual cost of $30M per year and he does 2 shows on Fox. For fun, lookup some "Red Eye" from 20 years ago that live on YouTube.
CBS learned a lesson on liability by pushing the DNC/Progressive agenda
PBS/NBR/CPB gov't funding is being shutdown as they went Woke and not balanced no matter what they claim
CNN and MSNBC - get the paddles out. Progressive broadcasts are dying a slow, painful, expensive death. Even "The View" will be whacked next year. They have so much opportunity costs into them that morph'ing out will be very hard.
Johnny Carson use to say (paraphrasing): Stay politically neutral and treat them all the same.
As far as Kimmel goes, I miss "Girls on Trampolines."

Johnny Carson probably would do nowhere near aswell today as back then, nobody could I mean tens of millions watched a night but he would still lap the competition today. He stayed out of all that stuff. youtube.com

Colbert added nothing of value to CBS. CBS took sides and lost. Ask Italy about how choosing the wrong side affects your financial future.

Does daytime talk, like The View, have any credibility left? Maybe they're just four Stephen Colberts with tits. Perpetual racebaiter and professional victim Asuncion Hostin wants viewers to believe that firing a failing pundit for losing $40M per year will destroy our nation.
'The View' host Sunny Hostin warns Colbert cancellation could lead to the 'dismantling of our Constitution'

^ Kind of funny that the same people who bleat about the Constitution support blue cities and states violating it by failing to recognize the primacy of the federal government and passing laws violating the constitution by creating sanctuary cities specifically designed to thwart the constitutionl primacy of the federal government on all immigration matters.
