Miss Teenage Miss US announced they would no longer have a swimsuit competition in their beauty contest. Man, this PC thing is getting to be too much. What's wrong with watching some gorgeous young women parading around the stage in swimsuits. It's not like they are in any danger in that auditorium. SHEESH !

If almost all guys boycott it or don't watch it, same effect, will that have an impact? If the answer is no, then what does it matter? Might have to be our new motto. If the number of male viewers matter, then I suspect it might change. I'm not really sure how many guys who aren't involved by knowing someone actually watch those competitions.

Reminds me of Playboy announcing they would no longer have nude girls in their magazines. What they didn't say is that most guys no longer buy magazines. They may still watch playboy tv and that has plenty of nude girls and I'm sure tv subscriptions make a whole lot more money than a declining magazine business. They might have guessed that maybe they could pick up more female readers without any nude girls in the mags. Maybe the miss teen contest has a mostly female audience because it never got much tv exposure. I almost never remember seeing it on tv and don't know if I've ever seen a miss teen contest. Probably won't be interested now if they ever tried it.
I've never seen this pageant on TV, it must be a cable show. It's the thought of it that ticks me off.

I think the headline reads: "replacing bikini swimsuits with athleisure" . I am not entirely sure what athleisure is but the pictures suggest athletic wear and some of it resembles yoga pants. So I give it a thumbs up. Maybe Miss Teen is just getting with the times?
Yeah I don't get it. Swimsuit part is the ONLY reason to watch a beauty pageant.

Even more creepy is driving around the suburbs in the summer and seeing fundraising car washes. I've seen many of these fundraisers sponsored by fundamentalist churches and they have these REALLY underaged girls in skimpy swimsuits prancing about the street trying to attract customers.

Yeah - I'll have to agree if they are teens then maybe they should not be forced to go out there parading in swimsuits - not that I would be opposed to it but I can see many of those young girls not being comfortable w/ it.

@motorhead - those charity washes are big in Atlanta. Don't think for a minute those HS girls aren't into teasing guys. I stopped for one once and rolled down my window. Let's just say it was obvious the bikini top stopped covering what it was supposed to cover while she did that.
