Morons. There's no real human trafficking occurring in legal licensed strip clubs, AND IT WILL HAVE NO EFFECT on the illegal underground clubs. Seriously, with Loyola, Tulane, UNO in city limits, many coeds use that employment to pay for their outrageous student loans, and that's just in New Orleans. There are so many other colleges statewide. I guess the Big Easy has been list to the big brother nanny state. Coincidentally, this is being passed while the murder rate amongst young black men skyrockets.
Idiots. If you deny 18 year olds employment in strip clubs it will just push them to go on the Internet and become a sugar baby or an escort at an earlier age. After all young girls need money and they're not going to find it at church. Working as a stripper is a far safer job for a young girl,
^^^ agreed. Stripper is not a good job for an 18 year old but it's better than the alternative options JS69 mentioned. Most of those girls aren't going to say "oh I can't be a stripper now for 3 years, so I'll just go work at Taco Bell."
“If you have to be 21 to drink, don’t you think you should be 21 to take your clothes off?”
How can anyone think there is a connection between the two? So you would prefer every stripper to be able to get drunk at work in order for them to be safer?
If you want to make a connection between two potentially dangerous, yet unrelated, choices how about "If you are old enough to choose to join the military at 18, don't you think your old enough to choose to be a stripper?"
The logic behind the bill is way off. If the intent is to stop human trafficking - then this will just force the traffickers to use underground clubs.
If the 18 year olds can work in non stripping jobs inside the clubs - it would seem to make even less sense.
These girls will simply become whores and they will be sold outside of the legal club environment. It will simply make the problem worse - and more difficult to regulate.
Doesn't New Orleans have a very corrupt police force? Lots of gangs in the various parishes/wards? Also a huge drug problem? Those seem to be more appropriate things to work on - rather than 18 year old strippers.
