Video of Detroit strip club shooting

Avatar for jackslash
jackslashDetroit strip clubs

This 2AM video shows the shooting outside the Penthouse Lounge in Detroit. It's not everyday you get to see a real strip club shooting. The story makes it clear that this strip club, located on Livernois near Joy, is not the Penthouse Club, located on 8 Mile Road. The Penthouse Club is one of my favorites.

Not surprised. Why you would out at 2am in Detroit I have no idea. You're asking for trouble.

First clue it's not the PHC on 8-Mile?

Shooter drove an Astro Mini Van.

No self respecting TUSCLer would drive a mini van to the PHC (Except maybe the dancers)

Excuse me MoHead, but I think LDK82 drives a minivan! Oh but that "self respecting" comment may come into play.

It was a bar on fucking Joy rd. That's 6 miles south of 8 mile.

I have lived in Detroit on and off throughout my childhood, live in the burbs now and will never live in Detroit again for obvious reasons... But being out at 2am in Detroit is no big deal to me, partially because I know what areas to stay away from (for example, a ghetto lounge at Joy rd and Livernois is not a good idea). It's also not a good idea to stop and get gas at 2am in Detroit. If I'm not at work and I find myself in Detroit at 2am, it's usually to smoke and drive and have a DD so I and whoever else isn't driving can open intox. Wtf is a Detroit cop gonna do? Also, I've made plenty of stops at various 24hr Coney Islands at 2/3am. The key is to hide your money (mine usually goes in my bra), look mean so less people will fuck with you (I swear it works) and carry a weapon, just in case.

I once ran out of money at the Flight Club around midnight and drove all the way to A2 to find a safe ATM. (Just kidding sorta)

I'm often out and about at 2am in any of the local neighborhoods, sometimes riding a bicycle. If I owned a mini-van, which is a distinct future possibility, I wouldn't hesitate to drive in anywhere.

Not sure if these other places really have crime rates that much higher, or if the issue is in people's heads.

Well - thank goodness there were only injuries and no-one died.

I think we are in need of a heavy-hand when it comes to crime - seems that there are losers these days that take out a gun and start shooting for the most minor of offenses - too many thugs w/ guns shooting them off for any reason.

Papi, are you then breaking with so many of the White Males on this board and suggesting that gun restrictions would be a better way to go?

^^^ Of course not. How about enforcing existing laws and locking up perps for 5 to 10 years. See how many creeps pull out a gun then.

I’m not a gun-owner but as has been mentioned on TUSCL many times in the past law-abiding gun owners are not the problem – it’s the thugs w/ guns and why I think we need a heavier-hand against crime sorta like what Giuliani did in NY.

Mikeya02, your post is welcomed. But I was asking Papi, because of his post. I already know how most of the other people on this board feel about such things.

Yeah, sure mikeya02, enforce existing laws, lock up all the bad people. These people were born bad. So if you lock all of them up, then the rest of us will be safe. Right!

It is not possible that social conditions produce desperate crazy people who do crazy stuff, and that no matter how many you lock up and for how long, that there could still be more crazy desperate people out there doing crazy stuff. No, even though California locks up the most people and the highest percentage, and the US locks up more by far than other countries, no. If you lock up enough, eventually we will be safe.

Papi, so you think a tougher law and order crackdown will improve the situation, even though this country already by far locks up a higher percentage than any other?

I'm not familiar with the specifics of Giuliani, especially when it comes to violent crime instead of nuisance crime. But doesn't NYC have some gun restrictions?

A simple question (without a simple answer)

Why do you need a gun at a strip club? (Or any club)

I'm not "anti-gun" but you're going to the wrong club if you need to carry a weapon.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Agreed!

also:

Guy realized that as he was carrying more and more armament around with him, he was putting himself into situations he shouldn't. The weapons do not actually create safety. But he was putting himself into situations where eventually he would end up shooting someone.

Good points. When I first joined TUSCL in 2006 it seemed Detroit was "King of the 2AMers". It was almost a running joke. Lately, it seems there are far more shootings in places like Miami or Texas than Detroit

For the record, when I said carry a weapon, it's regard to the post about being out past 2am in Detroit is "asking for trouble." It's better to have a weapon and not need one than to need a weapon and not have one. I, too, wouldn't want to be in a seedy building where others have guns on them (like Crazy Horse). My sister got robbed in the day time in Detroit. The worst that happened to me while living in the actual city of Detroit is my door getting kicked in / burglarized while I was at work. I did, however, get held at gunpoint in Flint once, during the one time I remember ever even being in that shit hole city.

Motorhead: "Why do you need a gun at a strip club? (Or any club)?"

Because the other patrons have them? For some unknown reason a lot of Detroiters are armed.

I legally carry a concealed a pistol most of the time, but not in strip clubs. The regulations on concealed carry forbid you to carry your gun in a bar or while under the influence of drugs and alcohol. So I have to leave my Glock at home.

Carrying a gun does not protect you from being shot.

It actually may increase the chances.

If a place is so dangerous that I would feel that I would need to carry a gun, then I would not go there. I'm not going to put myself into some very high level of danger unless there was some specific reason for this.
