You need to go to Montreal or Toronto. There are plenty of legit high quality spas in each of those cities - and it's regulated differently there so it's advertised out in the open.

After all Montreal is not a bad train ride from NYC.

Not experienced in NY, but towards Pittsburgh right now Nuru is only available through word of mouth type places. They don't advertise on Backpage because I think LE considers it illegal. There are some escorts that do Nuru, but it will be in a seedy hotel or they come to you. The regular Asian Massage Parlors are mostly erotic massage, but there are some straight up therapeutic mixed in. Again brick and mortar places have to walk a fine line because of LE. And the girls on the Backpage ad aren't the girls in the parlor, they are all using stock photography even if the girls working there are hot. Rubmaps is a good resource, but I have found it unreliable. Lots of fake posts on there. At least I think they are, I've gone to Parlors that Rubmaps said was legit or DIY and they weren't. And others that they said were full service and found out that wasn't true either. As in strip clubs YMMV.

Nuru is fun!! I've only had it in Thailand where they use the real stuff which is seaweed based and would be expensive here. In the US I'm told they use some kind of soap. It's a lot of fun!

One thing I was advised in Thailand was make sure the girl keeps her bottoms on or you have a condom on from the start, because if she's naked you WILL end up having unprotected sex if you're both naked. Not sure what you meant in your original post about whether it's " safe ". If you mean will you get a true Nuru, the answer is probably not. If you mean is it safe physically in an AMP, the answer is probably yes.

I have found the rubmaps.com to be fairly real. As with any website (even this one) you have to do a lot of reading and compare various reviews, and try to tease out the real facts. But is is better than just walking in off the street, and guessing.

Your best bet, IMO, will be from an FBSM or bodyrub provider (if NY has a good independent bodyrub scene). As Joe from NJ found, "anywhere but backpage" is where you should find your providers. I'd bet anything that if you look around long enough, you'll find other venues -- rubmaps, erosguide, and others -- that cover the local scene, and I guarantee you'll also find reviews. I personally avoid AMPs or anything that presents itself as a "massage parlor" at all costs.

I haven't done it, but legit Nuru from a well-trained provider who has invested in a nuru bed and gets the real gel is said to be amazing. There's a $50-$100/hour uptick on the usual price from a stock bodyrub, at least around here.

All massage stuff I look for via rubmaps. Just use advanced search to screen through the ads by sex acts.
