I sounds like fraud to me. I doubt an American court would recognize a secret divorce in another country.

I read it twice and it still doesn't make sense to me. The only angle I can think of is apparently he was trying to give all (or most) of his assets to his children from (obviously) a previous marriage and fuck current wife out of everything.

Guessing even though she got on his nerves, he decided it's always good to have someone whose hot and 30 years younger than you hanging around.

Hey, marriage is destructive, harmful. People bristle at my suggestion that instead of outlawing prostitution we should outlaw marriage.

Well, some types of marriages are already outlawed, like polygamy.

Is this always enforced? No.

But the idea that there can be legal prohibitions on marriage is already there.
