Adolphus Washington Suspended From Fiesta Bowl After Undercover Sex Sting

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The senior lineman has been suspended from the Fiesta Bowl after answering a Backpage advertisement for a prostitute.
According to a complaint from the Franklin County Municipal Court, Washington answered an ad placed by a Columbus police officer posing as an escort under the title “New to Columbus, Experience the Best.”
The December 9 sting operation was being conducted at a north Columbus hotel.
Just after 10:00 p.m., Washington texted and called the escort, asking for her address. 25 minutes later, he arrived at the hotel and asked the undercover officer for “a short stay,” which she said would cost $60.
Washington stated that he only had $100 and asked for change. The undercover officer replied that she did not have any change.
Washington then asked “what will $100 get me?” The officer responded that for $100, Washington would get an hour visit, including oral sex.
After the agreement and exchange of money was made, vice detectives entered the room and detained Washington. He was charged with a misdemeanor count of solicitation.
He is expected to appear in court on December 17.
Shortly after the the complaint was made public on Friday, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer announced the senior will not play in the January 1 Fiesta Bowl against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
A day earlier, Ohio State University Athletics released the following statement from Washington:
“I want to sincerely apologize to my family, to coach Meyer and the coaching staff, to my teammates and my friends for my lack of judgement last night and for my actions that I truly regret. I have wanted to be a high-character teammate, a contributor to the success of this program and, most importantly, someone my family can be proud of. I am extremely disappointed in myself, and I can honestly say I will learn from my mistake and I will accept the consequences that deservedly will come my way. And I hope that people will know that I am truly sorry and that I sincerely do apologize.”
