Two women suffered wounds described by police as not life-threatening during a fight and shooting at a Southeast Portland strip club early Friday morning.

The incident occurred at 1:53 a.m. Friday at Heat Gentlemen's Club, 12131 S.E. Holgate Blvd. Police said two suspects in the shooting were taken into custody after they were detained by security guards.

Both women were transported to the hospital; a suspect was also taken for treatment of injuries sustained during the fight, said Sgt. Pete Simpson, a Portland Police Bureau spokesman.

Based on information gathered at the scene, the bureau's gang enforcement team was called in to investigate, Simpson said. The names of the people involved are expected to be released late Friday morning.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the police non-emergency line at 503-823-3333.

According to the local paper there have been 166 gang related shootings and assaults this year in Portland. A map shows that a lot of them happened in the parts of town where some of the city's divier strip clubs are located.

Heat is the diviest club I've ever been to and, like ranukam, I won't be going back.
