The other day they had Carlos Santana (with Mrs. Santana on drums, quite good herself). Also a good performance (with a bit of more of a finishing flourish).
Considering the way some singers butcher it, we may want to keep the hard rockers on hand for other events. At least they can do good by a song about an artillery siege ;)

Wow. I pulled it up to watch it. Hetfield is a decent rhythm guitarist for a lead singer but he rightly took the back seat and let Hammett shine. Hammett is a master. He could play happy birthday and it would rock. There are few guitar players that I think are truly masterful but I put Hammett up there with Downing,Tipton, Murray and Smith. IMO the metal guitarist technical skills are leaps and bounds better than all other forms.

Hemmett can play. He's slightly underrated IMHO with the unwashed masses. Fans know he's good but he's not a not a household name like Joe Bonamassa. Must be the hair.

Bonamassa and others blues guitarists are just a totally diff breed. They can be in a band or straight up solo leading a backing band. They're the lead singer and lead guitar player all in one. Hammett is quiet and happy being one of the best at what he does without a lot of fanfare so that's why a lot of people simply don't know his name. Like when I said "Downing,Tipton, Murray and Smith" I would assume you know who I'm talking about but the unwashed masses wouldn't have a clue. Guys like that are happy to be masters of their craft and then go home to their families and live a quiet life.

I was at a local non-SC club watching a local band. The TV was on and I saw this without sound. I pointed the event out to a few and we knew it would be on youtube almost immediately. It was. :)

I just watched the clip; that was AWSOME!!!! Very original having them both there and doing the harmonies like that! Most people just wank it out coping Hendrix, like I do.
