A dancer had been sitting at my table for 20 minutes. She pulled out her iPhone and handed it to me.
Dancer: "Take a selfie of me." Me: "I think that's called a photograph." Dancer: "Huh?"

jack,
And that surprises you? Ones "history", for most, begins the day they are born. I think that is even more so these day with the pitiful excuse for what is called "education".
I thought "a selfie" had a different meaning in a strip club
motor,
Those should be done at home, don't you think?
LOL No, that's not a selfie ... but the word "selfie" is getting used generically, so it won't be too long until it does, indeed, just mean a picture of yourself regardless of who is taking it
Motor, you are funny.
I once asked a dance what was her normal honorarium and she had no idea what it was. I tried to explain again in polite terms and she still was clueless. Finally said "what do you charge bitch?"....She said $15. Therefore I am not surprised that one might not know the difference between a selfie and photograph. I recall a thread a while back on selfies.
Such is that evolution of language. I don't clutch my clutch because it's been on the floor for close to 100 years now.
the not that
I think a selfie just means a member of group in the picture is also taking the picture.
steve229 would be the expert though, if she was here.
