Brilliant quote by Colin Cowherd of ESPN: "Good looking people go into TV, smart people into newspapers, Radio gets the rest."
I'm not sure if I agree with this statement.
What smart person would go into the newspaper business today?
Local TV stations might put attractive, but dumb, newsreaders on the air, but there seem to be at least some very smart and intelligent people at the national level.
As a long time fan of radio, I think some very smart people are on the radio. Perhaps ugly, but not stupid.

Exactly. The web is decimating the newspaper business. Smartest content is scattered over thousands of individual blogs.
All these major newspapers are on-line.....so there you go...
Atlanta Journal Constitution Baltimore Sun Boston Globe Chicago Sun-Times Chicago Tribune Cleveland Plain Dealer Dallas Morning News Denver Post Detroit Free Press Fort Worth Star-Telegram Honolulu Star Advertiser Houston Chronicle Kansas City Star Las Vegas Review Journal Long Island Newsday Los Angeles Times Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Minneapolis Star Tribune Newark Star-Ledger New York Daily News New York Post New York Times Orange County Register Oregonian Philadelphia Inquirer Pittsburgh Post Gazette Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Sacramento Bee St. Louis Post-Dispatch St. Paul Pioneer Press San Diego Union Tribune San Francisco Chronicle San Jose Mercury Seattle Times Tampa Bay Times Tampa Tribune USA Today Wall Street Journal Washington Post
I've been told that I have a perfect face for radio.
I used to work at a TV station and walked away that most news people are scum. Not seen much to change my mind.
Couldn't tell you the last time I actually bought or read an actual physical newspaper. Has to be years ago.
Everything is on line now. Why even buy a newspaper?
"Journalism" is investigative reporting, which the on line news services rarely if ever do. The Chicago Tribune is a shining example: they've uncovered several huge scandals recently, the biggest being the city of Chicago first taking bribes for $3 million the red light camera contract, and then how they illegally shortened the yellow light time to write thousands of undeserved tickets. Plus, the cameras actually cause accidents according to their study, refuting Chicago's claim they make intersections safer. The Tribune went in to great detail on the methodology of their findings.
This was a great example of the need for intelligent, hard working people to stay in journalism even though it's a tough industry with electronic media. Our freedom as Americans owe a debt to a free, inquisitive press.
