Is Strip Club Business Declining? Why?

Several posters here have alluded to the fact that strip club business is declining. It has also been postulated that this has resulted in increased mileage and greater scamming as the strippers compete more ferociously for the remaining bucks.

Do you beleive that it is true that SC business is declining? If so why? Have men grown tired of the tease and decided to turn toward alternatives like escorts/prostitutes instead?

As I mentioned, I also think that demographic and social trends are unfavorable for this industry. The mainstay of the gentlemen's club used to be travelling businessmen, but the guys to whom this kind of entertainment appeals have aged and many have retired. Strip clubs don't appeal as much to the younger guys coming along because they were raised in a more permissive era - they're much more likely to go to an escort rather than a strip club. And as others have noted, business entertaining at strip clubs has gone out of style. It used to be quite common for a salesman to take customers to a strip club but you almost never see that anymore. In part that's because a lot of today's travelling businessmen, salesmen and their customers are women.

Similiarly, the mainstay of the neighborhood bar-type strip club used to be the blue collar factory worker. But there aren't as many factory workers today, especially the highly paid unionized ones, as manufacturing has become more efficient.

In the 20 or so years I've been going to clubs I've seen several rises and declines in the business. Each time they have been triggered by economic issues, not morality issues. Things like price increases and mileage increases however, generaly do not go away once business picks-up.

Older guys demand higher quality, while quality is declining. Younger guys are not making the big money to pay the inflated prices on everything in clubs, so they stay away. Corporations have eliminated entertaining at strip clubs. And everything FONDL said is also true.

i think the economy has alot to do with what dancers make and what clients are wanting to spend.usually,if dancers are having a tough time, then so are alot of other people who work on tips elsewhere.like waitresses and taxi drivers..thats why so many dancers look for people from out of town-usually,those who are traveling have more cash to spend and are willing to spend it in the name of having a good time then those who are local and can go to said club anytime they feel like it.i also feel that some people are opting to do the escort thing rather then the club thing for what they are looking for..and if what they are looking for is on the risky side, well, then i,d say that they,ve made the correct and right choice for their needs.

If you're referring to my posts, you've misunderstood what I'm saying. I don't think business in total is declining, but I do think that the number of dancers working and the number of clubs has increased faster than the number of customers, so that for a lot of given clubs and dancers, their individual business is declining. I think there are a whole lot of reasons that the overall strip clubs business is not growing fast enough to keep up with supply. Businesses (and the IRS) have become much stricter on expense accounts. Computers and cell phones mean that travelling businessmen are often in ther hotel rooms still working at night. There's much more competition from other forms of adult entertainment thanks in part to the internet. Club prices have risen too fast. Demographics and social trends are probably not very favorable for strip clubs either. I think the days when an average-looking girl could make a ton of money in this business without breaking laws are largely over.
