OT: As Nursing Crisis Looms, Ore. Schools Turn Away 2,071 Nursing Applicants

"...data gathered by the AACN predicts the need for healthcare services will exceed the number of available Registered Nurses (RNs) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) in the future.

The National Bureau of Labor predicts there will be 1.1 million open RN and APRN job positions by 2022. The change is attributable to retiring nurses and baby boomers requiring increased health care as they grow older.

Not really. The girls still have to support themselves through nursing school. I for one am willing to do my part to help the young women of America to succeed in reaching their dreams,

The shortage can be remedied by raising nurses' salaries.

My daughter is a single mom and she went back to school to get certified as a medical assistant. She will graduate in December. Of the 30 students that started the course only 3 remain. She got financial assistance from the state while going to class but now she is doing her internship at a doctors office and receives no pay from them or the state. If it wasn't for me providing financial assistance for the rest of this semester, she wouldn't be able to continue. I have heard the same horror stories from other parents when it comes to internships. it has caused many students to quit.

Has anyone figures in the Boomerang generation in these figures, Stevie? U point out "the sky is falling" but where is the common sense results you are looking for? Baby boomers have children, and there are several making their way through the system, and they will fill in nicely with well paid nursing jobs after working their way through school at your local strip club.

This really isn't news, as the more things change the more they stay the same. Quit wasting your time looking at the media, other than TUSCL.
