Here's a dumb question. I've been to plenty of strip clubs in my day and have gotten plenty of dances. I've also gotten plenty of VIP dances by song (for example, $20 or $25 per song). I've never done a block of time, however, for, say, 30 minutes for a set amount of money. For this type of thing, does the dancer keep track of the time? Does the bouncer? And how strictly is it enforced? Thanks.
Normally the club/bouncer keeps track because you are renting the room from him. I'm sure some dancers are watching their watches too but it's mostly the house. At my favorite club, I normally do 30 minute VIPs and that is usually enough time but if we run over, nobody has ever said anything to me but that may be because I am a known regular.
At my favorite club, you can block a half hour or hour of VIP. The waitress escorts you and the dancer to the room and takes your drink order. When she returns she collects the room fee and drink payment ( $90 or $180) plus her tip. She asks if you want her to return to refill drinks ( I've never said yes) and she says she'll return 5 minutes before the time is up. The rooms have two faux leather coaches facing each other and a paneled entryway affording total privacy. The dancer's fee is paid directly to her ($100 or $200) plus tip. There are no cameras and most have a TV (I guess if you're bored). I once did two hours with two dancers and it was the epitome of drugs, sex, and rock & roll. The waitress keeps track of the time and notifies the DJ to not call her on stage.
At one of my spots, the cost for the room is $20 for 30 mins (you're not gonna find that price anywhere). Everything else that goes on is totally between you and that stripper. Money talks!
I've a dancer tell me 3 songs=15 minutes. To which I said BS. I check my watch, you can push a button on the side for illumination. I have had a girl use the timer app on her phone. The bouncer will knock. One afternoon the DJ kept track of the time and called her to the stage as time was up.
Always check and make a note of the starting time, or use a timer as others have suggested. This not only prevents ripoffs, but it also lets you know when it's time to bring things to a conclusion assuming that's what you're in the mood for. Most places monitor the time closely, but if things are busy they do sometimes lose track. Most dancers I've been with rely on the club to monitor the time. As others indicated, it's usually the bouncer but sometimes the waitress.
If they forget to tell you when the time is up and you go over, don't get suckered into paying something extra unless it's a tip to the girl that you think she deserves. That happened to me once at a club I no longer go to. Not your job to keep track of the time.
At many of the Toronto area pus buckets that I patronize there is no fee for VIP. Mind you, the VIPs are just big rooms with subdued lighting and minimal privacy. What happens in VIP (and length of time for whatever happy events might occur) is entirely between customer and dancer.
There are exceptions but the only one of those that I like is Club Pro. It has a $20 VIP fee........every time you visit with a different dancer! Choose well when you visit that club. VIP and Champagne Room at Landing Strip are pure rip-offs. Ultra high mileage but cost is double because of horrible fees.
It does seem like these VIP room arrangements can be complex and varied. I read accounts of having to pay a skip fee, of just having to tip out bouncers, of waitresses bothering you. It just sounds like you never really know what to expect, and just about anything is possible. Then there could be the problem of running over. The worst would be the cases where they are trying to extort money from you by threat of violence. It sound problematic to me.
@Iron Fox-
At most clubs I visit, it's the bouncer who keeps track of the time. However, I do know at my favorite club, I go to the champagne room, which is based on time, and while the bouncer watching the VIP and champagne rooms is hypothetically supposed to set the time, sometimes, the dancer does, especially one who's been there for a while. It's not supposed to happen, but considering they have a paid staff of 4, and only 3 at the most are there at one given moment, and usually it's only 2, it's easy to see how that happens. And usually, they will go far over the 15 minutes they're supposed to. Hell, even if the bouncer sets the time, I'm known enough they sometimes let me have 20 minutes.

Maybe they also know it can take us elder TUSCLers a bit more time to complete the "dance". :)

Surprised Papi Chulo hasn't chimed in on this topic yet
