Percentage of American Men who are Regular Strip Club Visitors

If we somehow had access to the minds of every man in the ole' USA, I bet we'd all be shocked at the percentage of guys who are strip club junkies and/or engage in the hobby in other ways (escorts, massage parlors, etc).

You guys remember that Zumba instructor a few years back who was actually a prostitute and was running the business from her studio? There were dozens of men caught up in that scandal (all from the same town). Lawyers, firemen, bankers, other respectable men had all been found to be clients.

I've never told anyone about my strip club visits. I'm guessing most other guys are the same way. The percentage of guys in the hobby has gotta be higher than we think.

Chime in if you want.

I'd put the percentage of regular strip club patrons ( including women too) to be less than 1% of the population.

Yeah, who knows.

But personally, I don't think the percentage would be that high either.

If I had to guess, I'd say most American men only go a few times a year, if that.

It's hard to estimate a percentage. Most married guys don't want it known that they are SC regulars, making surveys unreliable. A lot of professional men (doctors, lawyers, accountants, business owners and bankers) don't brag about being SC regulars.

good club managers and bartenders know that regulars hope for discretion and anonimity.

You guys are probably right about the percentage being not that high.

I just got to thinking about how I used to work in a large office with probably 100 people or so, most of them men. I always had it in my brain, for some odd reason, that *none* of these men went to strip clubs. I thought of them all as completely straight-laced family men. This was likely not the case, but my default position is to assume people don't go.

I'm guessing that the numbers of names registered on TUSCL is around 200,000.

Here is something to think about as well. Many strip club visits are also "work" related. What I mean by this is a salesman goes to a conference for his company....they get wined and dined. next thing you know a handful of them end up at a strip club. example # 2 doctors are getting wined and dined by a Pharma Rep and next thing you know....they are at a strip club... etc. etc. etc. this type of "clubbing" happens more than people think or know.

So more people go than you think and are hush hush. Now people who are regulars to a club i think is 1% or less. i go to clubs about once a month. Do i go to the same club...nope. I spread my time out. Yet i have been going to one more than others because of ease and closeness to my home. But I don't think i am a regular to say the least. Actually might be heading that way tomorrow.... HEHE.

@ Lopaw:

1. From the way you phrased your first comment, it sounds as if you know that there are other hounds among your coworkers, but you know you're the biggest of them. Correct? Or, were you just speaking metaphorically?

2. The percentage that you envision would be best converted to a pie chart. Then with the use of a microscope you could see the slice of the pie that you're amongst.

Just look around next time you're in a club. How many PLs are there. How many clubs in town. Then compare to McDonalds or Starbucks. It's a pretty small percentage of people who go to the clubs.

@Club_Goer-

I am really the only die-hard hound amongst all of my coworkers. At most a couple of them go on the average of 2 or 3 times a year - sometimes more but only after some serious prodding. I used to drag them out to a local topless joint for lunch occasionally, but since that club closed back in 2009 my guys have no interest in venturing out further to try out other clubs. That's why I lol'd at the OP's over-assessment of all of those "male" die hard SCJunkies. There just aren't many at all. I'd venture way less than 1% of the total SC going public. The die-hards are the anomaly, not the rule.

"Probably not even .1%"

Sounds about right - three standard deviations off the norm

So if we are the very rare breed, does that play in our favor (strippers know that we are the true connoisseurs)? Or does that play against us, that we are the ATMs that some think we are (fool me once, shame on you, but fool me over and over)? If strip clubbers are a small percentage of the population, and we are over-represented in that small segment, are we in a good position or not?

I think it’s probably pretty small also – especially if we are talking about regular goers vs. I go 1x or 2x per year.

Reasons why IMO:

+ not a lot of people have the excess money it takes to have a good time in a SC; or if they do; they rather spend it on something else (vacations; savign for retirement; etc)

+ many have family obligations that would preclude them from being able to be regurlars in the hobby (an S.O. that would not allow it; kids takign up most of their free time; etc.)

Perhaps the # of dudes that do partake in some kind of sexual services (escorts; message places; etc.) may be significantly higher though.

I would put the number at 5 to 10 percent. Being a Regular does not automatically mean hardcore once-a-week regulars.

My ATF shares lots of info about her other clients. Hers is a rather upscale club and her regulars over the last few years include an orthodontist, a real estate developer, an owner of several businesses ( septic, excavation, rubbish removal, trucking, etc.) and lately, a lawyer.
All have one thing in common - lots of disposable income. My take is that those of us who are inveterate mongers make up less than one percent of the total population, however there are another 2 or 3 percent who'd go more often if they could afford it and another 5 to 10 percent who would like to go but are afraid of social recriminations. The large majority have little interest in strip clubs and view the patrons as low lifes and losers.

I'll take some guesses: (Educated if I'm right, wild if I'm wrong.)

% of American Males that are avid regular stripclub visitors: < 1%
% of ^^^ who have ever visited a stripclub (or similar) : 50%
% of ^^^ who have visited a stripclub in last 12 months: maybe 5-10%

In #2, I'd consider some real old timers who went to a burlesque show, or guys who went to a private bachelor party or 2 that hired strippers.

I'm happy I made it to at least 1% of something.

Considering 60% of Americans have $25,000 or less saved up for retirement and that the typical American household in 2010 approaching retirement only had about a third the estimated amount they will need, it would be no surprise strip club regulars are a small percentage.

I may not even be in the top 20% as far as my income but it appears my savings puts me in at least the top 40%.

I would be doing better if I hadn't made some crappy investments.

Out of my immediate relatives, I believe I am the only one who routinely visits strip clubs. I don't even know if some of them even know what the term gentlemen's club means. I drove by one and I heard, " they probably serve really expensive steak in there."
They thought it was a restaurant for rich guys.

Me too – I’m ecstatic to be in the top 1% of PLs

Most guys have kids. And for most guys with kids, their kids are the #1 thing in their life. So their wives have got them by the sort and curlys. Because our laws and traditions make it very easy for a vindictive woman to pull apart a father from his kids. A big part of the reason there are so many a-holes in strip clubs. A-holes are more willing to risk the loss of a close relationship with their kids. Don't get me wrong, I know there are exceptions. There are a fair number of non-selfish, non-idiot wives. They understand that, even though their husbands may love them more after 10+ years of marriage than when they were newlyweds, simple biology can make the husband obsess for sexual contact with women in their 20s. But then again, how many of those husbands would accept their wife having some fun with a male stripper. I guess we all just deserve each other.

^ Yet another solid case for not having kids and why I don't want them. It's such an enormous responsibility, made all that much more difficult by the other parents out there who don't treat it as such.

Would rather enjoy my life and help others enjoy theirs than feel the need too put more copies of me on the planet and have to serve them for the rest of my life.

Hard to estimate but I would guess the % is minuscule. I think it would be much higher if dudes really knew the type of fun one can have in a SC. I think most only know at a very high level what goes on.

Could be higher though. I recently found out that a close friend of mine was a bigger monger than I am. Surprised the shit out of me and wouldn't have guessed it in a million years. I finally shared some of my SC exploits with him and he shared his which make mine look like amateur hour. Our conversations are much more fun now.
