Is it wrong for Dennis Rodman to go to North Korea?

Do you guys think it's in bad taste for Dennis Rodman to go to North Korea? Does it legitimize an unstable regime?

I think it's good that he thinks Dennis Rodman is his friend. They've already played that card once with getting some hostages released, and it should be valuable to continue to play over and over in the future.

(Personally I think they should just nuke the guy and get it over with sooner rather than later, but if they aren't willing to go all the way...)

I can't figure why Craig Hodges is going. His entire NBA career was highlighted by his community service for underprivileged people. He was always criticizing Michael Jordan for not doing enough to help others. And now he's lending credibility to one of the most ruthless dictators in my lifetime?

For the record, Rodman is an idiot...although seeing what Jong did to his uncle, perhaps Mike Vick would have been a good choice as a teammate?

From what I understand, the trip is being bankrolled by a gambling company.

I bet the NBA doesn't look to favorably on this.

Like Dougster alluded to, I think there might be more afoot than we know. (At least I hope so!)

*Craig Hodges competed in the NBA Three-Point Contest one year when he wasn't even on an NBA roster.

That was a real 'WTF' moment

I dunno about nuking north Korea, south Korea depends on them as semi-literate cheap labour, much like America and it's mexicans.

I think Rodman is getting paid for doing gay porn in N. Korea. Everything about goodwill is a ruse.

1) Dennis Rodman and bad taste go hand in hand.

2) The concept of Dennis Rodman legitimizing anything is laughable.

^ Agree

In the CNN interview Dennis Rodman seemed incoherent. Came across like a delusional long-term hard core alcoholic. It is futile to try and make sense or assign meaning to someone like that.

As a veteran who spent 16 months in South Korea with a lot of that time on the DMZ, I think it is a farce that he is over there. Do you think he is shown anything except what they want him to see. The propaganda they used to ship south showing how much the country loves their leaders is the same bullshit he sees. The guy is a broke POS who will do anything for a few bucks.

Nobody in Obama's administration knows how to deal with any country anywhere. Obama is hoping that Rodman over there is a "great" idea.

I personally don't care, he can do as he wishes, he can't make it any worse.

I am curious as to how many North Korean babes has he completely stretched out with the BBC, lol! I can imagine the refugee claims now, women fleeing the north because they can't find men big enough to satisfy them! Lol!

Maybe he'll have bad enough judgement to insult Kim Jong-Un. That should be good for a life sentence, which isn't long inn North Korea!

It's not wrong for him to go there. It's wrong for him to be allowed to come back.

Weak-minded people are easily manipulated into doing things to fulfill the motives of those more intelligent.

When Mr. Rodman no longer serves any useful purpose, he will be terminated.

Unstable idiot praises unstable leader of an unstable nation. That certainly makes sense to me to have all the unstables in the same place if they just keep him. Maybe he took his wedding dress over so he and Il can get married and screw each other.

Here are the other players

Rodman will lead the team that includes former NBA All-Stars Kenny Anderson, Cliff Robinson, and Vin Baker. Craig Hodges, Doug Christie and Charles D. Smith are on the team, as well. They will play against a top North Korean senior national team on Wednesday, marking Kim Jong Un's birthday.

Rodman seems like the kind of guy who would have lunch with Hitler after executing a few thousand people. Apparently it's no big deal to Rodman. The only difference between the two leaders is quantity of people killed.

Is it wrong to be friends with evil people? I guess if you are friends with Satan, then you'll be happy to be with him later. Unless he lied to you and you were stupid enough to believe everything. I guess that is like giving all your money to Madaoff and asking if you are happy being friends after it's all over. It's just a matter of time before the stupid realize how stupid they've been.

I don't know Rodman. Maybe he's really a satanist worshipping Satan. Rodman might approve stripping people naked, starving dogs for days, then watching the dogs eat the people for his entertainment just like his friend recently did that even appalled the Chinese.

I mentioned this to one of my coworkers, and he thought perhaps Rodman works for the CIA and thus we are infiltrating the Kim regime from within. This isn't wholly unprecedented. In the World War II era, baseball player Moe Berg was a spy, and supposedly he was a spy during 1934, when American baseball players went on a tour of Japan. Essentially, he spent his non-baseball time taking pictures of everything in Tokyo, so that when the US declared war on Japan after Pearl Harbor, we had pictures and a map of everything, all thanks to a baseball player. Of course, Berg was a Princeton grad, so he actually had some brains. You can read about this in the book The Catcher was a Spy.

Since America doesn't issue Visas to North Korea it is the Obama Government allowing this ignorant moron tv time. One disgrace allowing another disgrace to make us look stupid.

You just go to a country that is friendly to both countries. I am sure he flew to China and then hopped a flight from there to N. Korea. Many people flew to south america to hop a flight to Cuba.

Personally I do not care what the nut job Rodman does. The press legitimizes him by covering it. If they did not cover it he would not go.
He just wants another moment in the spotlight and will do anything to get it.
Many people do crazy things just for their 5 min of fame. The punk that shot up that movie theater, the teen mom who had a body make over then released a porn tape, Jenny McCarthy sticking her tongue down random guys throats in Times Square on New Years Eve National TV and the list goes on. Narcissism is not limited to politicians and actors!
