Plus whatever city jester214 the traveling janitor happens to reside in at the moment. His "fuck this. Fuck that. Fuckin' fuck everything!" Is enough to bring a whole city down into his bleakness.

My nominated city is Chicago. Damned good chance of being shot to death there.

Detroit has many problems but the strip clubs make it all worthwhile.

How can this list include Chicago and New York? They are the 2 best large cities in USA.

Kind of funny altard says that. Chicago has a complete gun ban. Either altards philosphy on guns is wrong or there is no way anyone could get shot in Chicago since there are no guns there

The murder rate in Chicago has nothing to do with the gun ban, although it is kind of ironic.

About 90% of the murders in Chicago are confined to a few areas, mostly on the southside, that are a result of turf gang wars over who is going to control the sale of heroin and other drugs in the city.

The typical tourist visiting downtown or watching the Cubs at Wrigley Field have little to fear, unless they're being stupid.

I used to live in Chicago and it's a great city. The downtown area (the Loop) is active and lively day and night, and even women can walk around safely in downtown at night. As motorhead says, the murders are mostly gang violence on the southside.

On the negative side, Chicago has lame strip clubs and unconstitutional restrictions on guns.

Did you notice the State with the most miserable area is Illinois with 4 all in the Chicago metroplex where guess who is from that cesspool: Ding-Ding-Ding the answer is the Obama-nation and it is run buy his right hand man Rohm Emmanuelle. Please note that we of Indiana (even though I no longer live their) have never claimed Gary as part of Indiana. It is not even in the same time zone and is considered a neutral zone to buffer Indiana from the open sewer that is Chicago and its politics.
Drive through downtown Detroit and see how the federal government want your town to look. The feds have been in sole charge the "Urban Renewal" of Detroit since the 60's--- socialism, cronyism and your tax dollars at work. That last person to leave please turn off the lights.

My biggest issue with Chicago is the winter weather. New York isn't attractive enough to outweigh the cost of living, at least in my opinion.

Downtown Detroit is fine Tiredtraveler, it is being reborn. The rest of the city can be scary. I lived in the city for 18 years, I know it well. The good news is yesterday, former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was convicted on 30 counts of various corruption and tax charges. Now if the city could be repaid the money he and his cohorts looted. :)

The worst city I've been in is Las Vegas with Los Angeles a close 2nd. Sure, Las Cessvegas has a lot of SCs & you can get a bite to eat anytime 24-7, but that's the only good thing I have to say about that town. It is a truly horrible place to live. The crime there is as bad as anywhere in the US. I used to live in one aptmt complex where a meth lab blew up--that happened four times while I was there. Hordes of tweakers all over the place. Vegas can be fun to visit but you don't wanna live there. Take my word for it.

My hometown of Miami was #1 on the list last year (2012 list) but did not make the top-20 this year – hmm?

Flint, Michigan was #2 on the list.

If you've never had the chance to watch the Michael Moore film, "Roger & Me", try to find it.

Hard to believe its been over 20 years already - but it's very good. Very humorous. Moore's politics aside, it's an entertaining look at Flint.
