So.....I Hear You Guys Had An Election Down South

Saturday, November 10, 2012 4:41 AM
$6,000,000,000 campaign spending by both parties and NOTHING changed! Do you guys have a death wish? Obama was such a beatable candidate for the Democrats and Romney couldn't close the deal? So much for Romney the crafty businessman; he ran a horrible campaign. Are you still counting ballots down in Florida, clubber? Every Latina stripper must have voted for Obama.

art: " Every Latina stripper must have voted for Obama" Funny! That's the repub line now isn't it? Too many damn spics in the country now. Outvote all the white guys and give that dang negro a second term.

$6billion dollar Obama stimulus plan. This is a repeat of 04 when someone with a brutal 4 years won. Romney couldn't get past the old, rich white guy image

$6 billion and nothing changed. That's because our country is evenly divided between douchebags and retards.

farmer, I don't get involved in the counting, only the voting. :) Interestingly, most all the problems in Florida are in locations with democratic election supervisors. Go figure. I need to go to the club and see my little latin current favorite and have her lick my wounds.

Nope, Art, no death wish here in Michigan at least not in my piece of the action. Given the choice available, the majority of us decided Obama was a better choice. Many disagree, but that is the way it is.

I read a funny story this morning. The loser spent $25,000 on fireworks to celebrate his "ahem" victory.

The two days after the election the stock market dropped and hundreds of companies announced massive layoffs. The Congressional Budget Office is predicting another recession, although if employment was measured the same way it was measured back in the 1920's and 1930's we'd still be in a depression. The facts are pretty ugly. On a personal level, my taxes are going to go up by $350 a month on January 1st. No, I'm not rich, or even close to it. I'm a middle class white collar employee. That is a looming disaster for both the country and me. And what is coming out of the elected politicians? Leadership? Working together to solve this? Nope. Political posturing and games.

I thought one of the more amusing stories was Linda McMahon spending nearly $100 million of her own money on two attempts to win a seat in the US Senate. She lost again. McMahon is the wife of Vince McMahon and former CEO of the WWE. Must be money in raslin'. But there is proof that money can't buy everything.
  • jerikson40
I saw that too. Why the fuck would anyone spend $100 million of their own money for a senate seat? Mind boggling. The cost/benefit analysis of that escapes me. Does she really care so little about money, and so much about being a Senator?
  • jerikson40
And speaking of mind boggling statistics from the election, they're estimating that about 96% of black voters voted for Obama. Just incredible. I'm not sure what to make of it, but to have virtually ALL of ANY group vote for one person is almost unheard of. At least for me. [view link]

I watched some youtubes of the Republican primary debates Mcmahon was involved in. That she was even the GOP candidate for Senate was a joke. She was wholly incompetent and essentially repeated anything Peter Schiff would say. He should have been the candidate if the GOP was really serious about any kind of reform. By putting people like McMahon and Romney out there, the GOP proves it is only about getting in power, not making these changes they claimed. Smaller efficient government? Less spending? LOL. yeah right. Good one GOP. The amount of money spent on the election shouldn't be surprising to anyone. Corporation are people, after all.

How are the immagration laws in Canada. Our government is now killing anyone who disagrees with the Obamanation. Ambassadors, border agents, unconvicted terrorists, and next it will be any citizen who dares to speak out. About a month ago I was discussing the upcoming election with a small group in a pub and when I stated that I thought that Obama was the worst president since Carter and said we need to send him back to Chicago where he belongs. Someone who overheard me came up to me and yelled at me she hoped that someone would kill all you moth......ing racists bastards. She continued her rant for some time. BTW she was white and 300 lbs. If I had said anything back to her I would likely have been arrested as I was in an east coast city at the time. I guess she hates me because I have a job while she sits, eats all day, watches Opra, pay per view movies, and texts on her smart phone, while her fat ass boyfriend fucks her fat ass to pop out more kids on AFDC all of which I pay for by being taxed to the point I can't afford a smart phone even if I wanted one. If any of you wonder why I alway recomend treating strippers with respect it is because at least they are trying to earn a living instead of having the government steal for them.

I should say McMahon attempted to say the same things as Schiff..she couldn't wrap her little "expert" business mind around the economics though. How she won that primary is a lesson in covering up incompetence with breathtaking spending.

@Jerikson: that statistic about 96% of blacks sounds a little hard to believe. Like something that could just be a rumor. Do you remember where you saw that? Would like to see if the source is at all credible.

Holy shit! A quick google search has CNN confirming the 96% of blacks voted for Obama. Mind boggling!
  • jerikson40
Yes, and it was about the same figure (95%) in 2008. By contrast, only 60% of white voters voted for Romney.
  • jerikson40
BTW, I'm trying to wrap my head around that statistic. It either means one of two things as far as I can tell: 1. Either Obama is far better than Romney, and all blacks realize that, but only 40% of whites realize it, or, 2. Well...something else is going on.

I know a lot of black people who voted for Obama because he's black. I heard one black man saying to another one, "You have to vote for Obama, he's black like us."
  • txtittyfan

It may have a little to do with the people working for a living vs people voting for a living. Obama says the best is yet to come. There will be many people who voted for him that will be surprised by his concept of what is better.

Romney: "And if the Hispanic voting bloc becomes as committed to the Democrats as the African American voting bloc has in the past, why, we're in trouble as a party and, I think, as a nation." As quoted by CNN, apparently from the same dinner he made the 47% comment at.
  • jerikson40

Personally, I'm just glad 96% of whites didn't vote for Romney. I'd hate to see the headlines if that happened.

Regarding the market plunge. Just remember you are not required to have any money in it, and you ate allowed to short it (at least at this point in time). In long only accounts treasuries are an option (not to be confused with "treasury options" which are yet another option).

Art, the answer to your question about why Obama won is twofold and very simple. First. As pointed out in an excellent Wall Street Journal article this week, the voting demographics are changing. The number of Blacks and Hispanics are growing and they voted almost exclusively for Obama. The older White guys who voted Republican are decreasing in numbers. This dynamic shift will only continue to grow. Second. The stupidity of the Republican party for continuing to be fixated on social issues (i.e. abortion, Gay marriage, prayer in school, etc.) will eventually alienate any of the moderate independants they so desperately need to gain a majority of the vote.

Snowtime - I agree with your comments but not sure of a solution. I am fiscally conservative but not so much on the social issues. I would bet that half the people that voted don't understand the deficit or don't give a fuck about the deficit. They cant think on a macro level and can only see what is going on in their piece of the universe. Most people didn't care about Libya, whether he knew or not, people didn't care. I agree the Republicans need to evolve like the church did and back off on some things, but they risk losing some of the 58 million votes they did get. They are in a tough spot. They will probably go with Rubio, if you can't beat them, join them.

Just on the basis of the two election campaigns Obama was the deserved winner. The Democrats did much better than the Republicans in the single most important factor in the campaign - motivating your voters to get out to the polls. Those midnight line-ups in Florida waiting to vote were not white-haired Republican ladies patiently waiting to vote for Mitt. If I had been able to vote in this election I suspect I would have voted for Obama. Romney inspired entirely no trust in me. I don't like his career at Bain. What he did there was not business generating employment and growth; it was just sleazy financial engineering, mere asset stripping. Republican social policies belong in the 19th century. The more that I think of this the more that I am sure I would have held my nose and marked my 'X' by Obama's name on the ballot. (In Canada we still use paper ballots that we voters mark with an 'X' in a circle - no fancy voting machines here).

Art: I'm not sure why you think Obama was beatable. It's hard to say. Romney did such a good job of self-destructing that all Obama had to do was stand to the side and watch it happen. They out Obama on "coast" the entire campaign. Obama can fight when he has to, but if the other guy is going to take himself down, why bother? So how would Obama do against a republican who actually gave him a run? Guess we won't ever get to find out. So who do the Dems put in there in 2016, or does Obama overplay it now so much that it doesn't matter?

I do think the Republicans better come up with a more viable candidate the next time. I consider myself a conservative, but how long has it been since they've had someone "Presidential"? 8 years of Bush the Dumber I never could embrace McCain And Romney never did it for me either As shallow as the public are, they're not voting for Christie with his looks. He better start losing weight now or get gastric by pass surgery. Unless he drops 100 pounds or more- it ain't happening.

motor, An excellent point. But then how does one explain the results of obama vs. Romney. Certainly, I think all can agree that Romney "looks" more Presidential than does obama. I know how I can explain it. Also, regarding my Chinese/GERMAN question... So obama is black, yet he is of a black man and white woman. Does the black part outweigh the white so he is considered black? Is it his appearance that makes him black? If that is the case, I know a number of people in S., Florida that are so tanned they are "blacker" that obama, but none are considered black. Tiger Woods, Vietnamese/black. Never heard of him being referred to as a Vietnamese golfer. Any explanations?

@Clubber: Black is the cool thing to be these days. And, yes, hip-hop and prez Obama have played a big role in that. Look all the whiggers we have these days - white surban kids who wish they were as cool likr black people are. That's why the 50/50 black/something else gets skewed toward "black".

The black/white thing was defined by the US Government during slavery times. If you were at least 1/8 black, you were considered black, and could be owned as a slave. It was the law of the land...

That Democrat Presidential Candidates have garnered 90-some pct. of Black Vote the last 2 decades is hardly news. The real question needs to be why/how those states that went for Bush in 00 & 04 changed over to Obama in 08-12 ?

I just read an interesting tidbit online. 'In the last century, just four American presidents have won consecutive elections receiving more than 50% of votes cast in each of those consecutive elections. The four presidents? FDR, Eisenhauer, Reagan, Obama.' If true, that is a very telling stat.
  • jester214
It's not that telling. Nixon and Clinton both faced strong third party candidates and then Nixon won a landslide. The only other two term president was Wilson who also faced multiple serious candidates which whacked up the percentages.

Yes because a good way to maintain control of our own bodies is have the government be more involved in our healthcare. I lost respect for the "don't tell women what to do with their bodies" argument when the same people were defending the idea of the government forcing people to buy healthcare.

I listened to some callers on the black talk radio station on SiriusXM this week call up and complain Obama has done nothing for them in four years, but they still voted for Obama and will supposedly hold him accountable this time. Too late for that, you already gave him a second term. Does the Democratic Party really need to do anything for African-Americans when they are always a guaranteed 14% of votes...
