More women head to the strip club for the women and the men

The best thing about women going to strip clubs is, in my opinion, that it makes stripping more mainstream and acceptable to the general public. This should help to reduce restrictive strip club laws.

One of the comments on that article in the washingtonpost stated that we are, "Devolving as a species." That guy couldn't be more wrong. If anything we are becoming more intelligent as a species by allowing, and becoming, more acceptable of people being able to do what they want to make themselves happy, as long as it doesn't harm someone else.

I personally think that since people are becoming more acceptable of strip clubs it just means that our society is becoming more modern and better suited for making sure that everyone is happy. I mean if someone is stressed out and needs a good time than what better than a visit to a strip club?

the feelings the dancers and the reporter writes about sound like everything I've ever heard from any dancer who's spoken to me about working in a club. is it better if we accept women working in clubs? probably. a lot of the women I've talked to make it clear they hide what they do from someone: their families, friends, people who might stalk them 'in real life'. do I think it's ever going to happen? no, because there's too much pressure in our society to make anything to do with sex and enjoying life into "sin". get rid of the stigma, and the people who have power because of that pressure lose their power, and they won't go away without a fight.

Yes, women have been more welcoming to gun ownership these days, something that was always associated with men. However, now that women are buying guns and gun makers are making guns for women (colors and smaller grips) - all of a sudden gun control/gun thieves are fucked for getting their message out that guns only belong to scary criminal men.

I think the same thing is happening with "gentlemen's clubs" that seem to be seeing more and more women customers over the years. I think these women mostly are in the below 30 market - so it is becoming more mainstream in a given generation, compared to say, the 50+ trouble makers that have fucked up feminism.

In both these aspects, I think society has really advanced allowing women into what once were "men only" parts of society.

The best thing about women going to strip clubs is...women going to strip clubs. I know some of you disagree, but that's my opinion. :)

The whole tone of the article is off. It's moralizing tripe about the presumed sad lives of dancers that we shouldn't support. Her sentence below portrays her bias:

"Strip clubs aren’t really about Saturday night and body glitter, chandeliers and glamour. They are about Monday morning, 4 a.m. and no other choices."

What a gloomy assessment. Insert "casino employee," "hotel worker," "night janitor,"security guard," "taxi driver," "hair dresser," "garbage collector," and really, is it any different? The only thing is dancers' lives involve sexual subjects, which is the source of the writer's prudish indignation.

Then she goes for the jugular with the following indictment, "I remember one dancer who was the portrait of success. She had a beautiful house... and her income supported much of her extended family. I learned... from court records... she was murdered by an obsessed customer who followed her home."

By this same reckoning, should we close 24-hour gas stations because they make easy targets for thieves and killers (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/04…)? Maybe we should stop eating fish because fishermen earn a paltry wage (~$28K/year) and die on the job more than any other profession (116 per 100,000 workers annually - http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2011/pf/j…)

The real thrust of her article isn't about people making choices, either of providing or of enjoying services provided by the adult entertainment business. It's about her arbitrary morals (usually with undertones of religious piety) and inability to see a larger picture. And it's precisely these kinds of moral judgments, backed up by force (police, army, courts, etc.) that make life a stupid living hell for sex workers of all kinds. There are places in this worlds (Germany, for example, and Canada's getting there) where the populace has essentially "evolved" socially to embrace sex workers, or at least to decriminalize their activities, so people can get on with their lives without undue interference.

It's funny and sad that conservative politics boasts about wanting to reduce government interference, and yet feels justified to intrude into my life constantly around this subject. We could learn a lot from our friend across the pond on this one.

I'm all for more ladies joining me in stripclubs, as long as they are the RIGHT type. Im not talking about physically (although hotties are definitely a perk!). Im talking about cool, money-spending chicks that can help undo the stereotype of the drunken, bitchy, or grabby female that makes some dancers hesitant to approach some women customers.

I do not like female customers at strip clubs and I've never understood the rise in female bisexuality in the past 15-20 years. It just means they don't like men that much anymore, either because we are no longer manly enough or otherwise not attractive to them. Why males encourage this trend is also beyond my comprehension. Now we have to compete for babes not only with other guys but with chicks as well.

Its always most strange to me to see a group of attractive young women at clubs paying other girls to take off their clothes. My thought is why don't they stay home and just take off their clothes for each other and save the money? It would be a lot cheaper.

I know this view gets a very hostile reaction from dopey men who think its so "hot" that girls like other girls, but ultimately we are harming ourselves as a gender by encouraging it. Someday, girls won't like or need guys at all. But, maybe we are so dumb as a gender we deserve that.

Due to this country's Puritanical background, I really doubt Strip Clubs will ever be socially acceptable. Even if more women go to them.
