They obviously earn enough money doing it to be worthwhile. If it was that or work for minimum wage somewhere, I'd take the bathroom troll job. It pays better and the hours are shorter.

Bathroom troll is not necessarily a low paying job, but you can't just rely on tips for turning on the faucet and handing out towels. Trolls can sell cigarettes, condoms, breath mints, etc. (The "etc" consists of weed, ecstasy, roofies, meth, viagra, and other drugs that customers and dancers desire.)

On a decent night I am pretty sure the restroom attendant at some of the Manhattan clubs I have seen can probably take home about $200, which actually isn't all that bad.

The men's bathroom troll would probably get better tips if she was female, hot and not wearing much. I always thought it was a bit discriminatory to have separate male and female restrooms, just let everyone go together. However that might affect those with the so called pee disorder or pee shyness where it's hard to pee if there's a girl standing next to you watching. I think the solution for that is to have her hold it for you while you pee. Then there would probably be a long line leading to the bathroom. Need to be careful what you wish for.

I once had a dancer offer to hold it for me while I peed. She looked serious too. I thought that was asking for too much trouble with the restrooms in a very public spot so I declined the offer. Future men's restroom troll??
