At Detroit's Coliseum yesterday afternoon (4/9/12)a young dancer told me that she left another club two days earlier because she couldn't take the pressure from the manager. All dancers at the other club were expected to get at least $150.00 per dance from customers or be replaced. She acknowledged that there was only one way to get that kind of money and she "wouldn't do those things." For me, this was a partial confirmation of my unverified hunches. Detroit managers hire dancers who will do "extras" or they pressure them to get with the program. The money realized from this practice helps the manager with his pay-offs to the Detroit Police Department which enforces the new restrictions only when they don't get their money. A plausable explanation for Detroit's "extras friendly" atmosphere.
It's a possibility but I've never heard any ladies I've talked to mention it and they tend to talk a lot of trash about the clubs they used to work at.
shadowcat, I think they are talking about $150 per dance not per song. So basically telling each girl that for every customer they take into the VIP they should make at least $150.
They could make $150 by either selling 7 regular $25 lap dances or they can make it in just a few songs by selling extras. This is one of the reasons why extras are easy in Detroit compared to other cities.
@SuperDude - sometimes these dancers need a little pep talk:
Her: I can't take the pressure from the manager (starts to sip a Red Bull)
Me: Put. That. Red Bull. Down. Red Bull's for closers only.
Her: Huh?
Me: Get out there - you got customers coming in. You think they came in to get out of the rain? A PL don't walk into the club lest he wants to buy dances. They're sitting out there waiting to give you their money. Are you gonna take it? Are you woman enough to take it?
One problem with that theory is that most of the Detroit clubs aren't actually in Detroit. Surely you're not suggesting the Inskter and Dearborn police are corrupt??
Talked to the guy with the clipboard at The Coliseum's VIP entrance. He was new to this club but said he's been performing this service for 11 years.
He escorts the customer and the dancer to the private VIP room and notes the time on the clipboard. When the customer and the dancer leave he notes the time of exit. I asked him what this was all about and he tells me that this "clocking" resolves disputes over the number of songs played. I suspect that is only part of the reaseon. The club is clocking the number of songs to determine how much the dancer was paid, because the dancers are required to pay the club part of the money earned from dances in addition to or instead of tip out.

What if the Dancer & patron have settled on a flat rate for services rendered? This sort of bypasses the song count.

Manager says, "You need to suck 5 dicks a shift, or you're gonna have to work at Bogart's. What you do with the cum is up to you."
Thanks for sharing, SuperDude.
