Any interest in creating a TUSCL app for the iphone? It would be sort of a yelp type app, one that identifies your location and shows you the strip clubs near you at that moment. Then when you click on the club, the reviews pop up. I know Apple has limits on adult content, but I still think it could be done.
I don't buy it. There are already a few shitty strip club locator apps out there, why not allow this one? Plus I don't want to see a new tuscl app, I want the content here converted. Can we not switch to vbulletin or something taptalk friendly? I've seen other forums do it.
What if you didn't call it strip clubs? You called it entertainment. Why do magazines like Details and Esquire have apps that discuss "after hours" nightclubs like Spearmint Rhino but Apple won't allow TUSCL? Maybe once Jobs is gone the restrictions will ease?
Agree with George. Apple has a tendency to dump stuff that might stir up uncomfortable positions regarding freedom of expression. One of the reasons I have an Android phone. Not really in the mood for someone else to tell me what I can have on my phone.
Let's dispense with the notion that you can't get porn or whatever on an iPhone, shall we? The only restriction is that the App Store won't approve *apps* that meet certain criteria with regard to porn and other subjects. You can still get anything you want through your browser, and you can download or load through iTunes any videos or books you want, regardless of subject matter. At worst, it's an inconvenience, and in practice it's not even that, given the browser method is so dead simple to use, and has richer content than most apps anyway.
There's no "freedom of expression" issues involved either. Apple owns the App Store, not the government, and they have the right to publish, or not, anything they want.
And for the record, my primary access to this website is via the browser on my iPhone. I use my desktop for writing reviews, articles and long winded PMs, but the vast majority of crap you see from me on here was done from my phone.
I'm sorry George, there is a freedom of expression problem. Apple doesn't have any business saying what *I* can put on *my* phone. Plus, the problem is larger than porn - there is the infamous "I Am Rich" app (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-100113…) that was kicked off AppStore.
Oh, well, you don't need AppStore some say - except one is limited to 100 devices for adhoc programs. If you want more, you need an Enterprise license (http://developer.apple.com/programs/ios/…) although that is for "in-house" distribution - not to go around AppStore.
I am not saying AppStore has to accept anything and everything, but they do inhibit freedom of expression apps for other people's devices. In so doing, they prohibit it except for 100 external devices!
deogol: Apple isn't telling *you* can put on *your* phone. They're simply declining to carry on their App Store the things you want, as is *their* right according to that same "freedom of expression" that *you* have.
You can still put whatever you want on your phone, you'll just have to get it somewhere besides Apple. And before you go claiming that you can't get it anywhere else, yes you can. Go anywhere on the web; Apple won't stop you. Jailbreak your phone; it's a relatively simple, painless and completely legal, if warranty voiding, process now. Then you use an alternate App Store that carries the items you want.
If there was a Strip Club App where users can give real-time updates (like club dancer quality and descriptions, cover fees, drink specials etc.) would you use to provide updates?

Which fact is, of course, a credit to you, and not my phone.
