WEIRTON, W.Va. -- Another gentlemen's club in Weirton is under investigation after authorities said they caught a woman soliciting prostitution inside the club.
Officials said an agent from the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration was propositioned by Lisa Tratt, of Weirton, during an undercover operation at the Hurricane Club on Main Street.
Tratt was charged with solicitation of prostitution, but officials said that's just the beginning. Weirton officials said they'll take a closer look at the Hurricane Club once the ABCA completes its investigation.
The incident happened just a little more than a month after several prostitution arrests were made at Weirton's only other strip club, Rumorz Showbar. As a result of that incident, Rumorz is currently not operating, making the Hurricane the city's only strip club.
"I don't think there's any evidence at all that shows Rumorz was working with Hurricane or Hurricane with Rumorz. Two totally different situations," Vince Gurrera, Weirton city attorney, said.
Soon after the bust at Rumorz, Weirton City Council unanimously voted to keep any new similar establishments from opening up and approved an ordinance that prohibits any new strip clubs from opening up in town.
"I think it's saying that our administration is no longer going to put up with businesses in the city of Weirton that shouldn't be in the city of Weirton. Surrounding communities may welcome that but we don't," Gurrera said.
After the investigation is complete, officials said both gentlemen's clubs in Weirton could be shut down by the ABCA.
"The city is going to do the same thing it did with the Rumorz Club in which City Council will meet in order to do a moratorium on the Hurricane until the ABC investigation is completed and until the ABC decision is made," Gurrera said.
