Five people were arrested Friday afternoon on prostitution charges after months of being investigated at an establishment that allows you to rent hot tubs by the hour.
The Meriden Police Departments Street Crime Unit served search and seizure warrants to ‘Tubs for Two' on 1415 East Main Street after an undercover officer was offered sex for money.
The business was being investigated for several months on allegations of prostitution according to Meriden Police.
Neighbors who live in the area told NBC Connecticut that they suspected ‘Tubs for Two' was a front for prostitution for some time and were not surprised by the arrests. A next-door neighbor recalled seeing women going in and out of the business all the time.
Arrested for prostitution were 23-year-old Yvonne Fabretti of New Britain, 26-year-old Stephanie Hammill of Bridgeport and 25-year-old Alexia Cox of Waterford, each held on $50,000 bond.
43-year-old John Vanaman of Meriden and 64-year-old Francis Woods of Wallingford were arrested for promoting prostitution and held on $75,000 bond.
They are scheduled to appear in court on January 4, 2011.
Meriden police expect to make at least one more arrest as the investigation continues.
