Man charged with soliciting prostitution

SEBRING - An Avon Park man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly posting an ad online asking for sex.

The 71-year-old was charged with procure for prostitute, a second-degree misdemeanor.

Maj. Mark Schrader, with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office, said an investigator with the sheriff's office spotted the ad and then responded to it, as part of an undercover operation.

The man negotiated and agreed to pay $50 in cash, plus a meal, in exchange for sex, according to the arrest report.

He agreed to meet the investigator at the Sebring Holiday Inn Express. When he made contact with the detective, he was placed under arrest without incident, the report stated.

A $50 bill was found inside the man's pant pocket.
