Ex-stripper accused in a case of murder, money, sex and voodoo

A former stripper has been charged with orchestrating the murder of her millionaire husband in a bizarre case involving sex, violence and voodoo.

Narcy Novack claimed she found her husband, Ben Novack Jr, 52, beaten to death in their New York hotel room last July. His face, hands and feet were bound with tape and he had been subjected to a sustained assault.

According to prosecutors, however, Mrs Novack let the killers into the room and handed them a pillow to place over her husband's face. They allege that the 53 year-old conspired in his murder because she wanted to inherit his $10 million (pounds 6.6 million) fortune. She was charged on Thursday along with three alleged co-conspirators.

The case, with all the elements of a Hollywood thriller, has gripped high society in Miami, Florida.

The victim was the son of Ben Novack Sr, the hotelier who built the Fontainebleau, the Miami Beach landmark.

Novack Jr set up a business running corporate conventions. He married Narcisa Cira Veliz Pacheco, then an exotic dancer, in 1991. Police reports catalogue a number of bizarre episodes in their relationship.

In 2002, Novack Jr claimed his wife tied him to a chair for 24 hours and proceeded to rob him of $370,000 in cash, antiques and jewellery with the aid of burglars. She told police it was a sex game. He declined to bring charges.

On another occasion, she claimed her husband booked her in for plastic surgery after breaking her nose. When she awoke from anaesthetic, Mrs Novack told police, she had been given breast implants that she had not requested.

According to her daughter, May Abad, Mrs Novack also practised voodoo.

The killing took place at the Hilton Rye Town in Rye Brook, New York.

Mrs Abad told investigators her mother murdered Novack Jr because he was having an affair and she feared he would leave her with nothing.

Mrs Novack and her brother, Cristobal Veliz, with two other men, are charged with conspiring to commit domestic violence and stalking.

I hope she was better looking when he first hooked up with her. I'd call her "butterface", but the rest of her doesn't look like it's in such great shape, either.
